St. Croix posted a sneak peek of their new rods that will debut at ICAST.

Check back during the show for Tackle Warehouse's 2012 ICAST video coverage "live" from Orlando Florida.

Should have kept going all the way up with the black

I think those are computer images (not real rods).

Not a fan personally, I wonder where these rods suit on the st.croix hierarchy???

Avid and Legend Elite, will be my only rods for me from them, My rods will wear full cork! I thought making a rod with half a handle was hideous, those are absolutely HIDEOUSER!! I would be fishing Premiers before they could talk me into one of those.

Those are 3d renders of the rods. Not actual pictures. Looks like a legend xtreme blank with a new eva foam grip and the legend tpurnament reel seat. No thanks. Ill stick with my cork xtremes.

Looks like I'm in the minority. I think they look pretty sweet. Not a fan of the rage style handles however--would much rather have foam, or better yet, cork.

Things are just getting outrageous. Did you see Shimanos new Symetre and Saros on ***? They look like theyre made by Quantum. These rods look like 2002 Airrus rods.

Weird. Something about them doesn't look right. The handle is obvious, but wth St Croix? Focus needs to be on an SC IV rod for under $200, or an SC II rod that isnt tip heavy.

Got pics of the new shimanos?

My lord. What's wrong with you St.Croix? Half the reason I enjoy your rods are the clean, cork, non-flashy rods, with a little flair in your higher line up. Thats what I really appreciated about your rods. But these are just butt ugly

I never say never, but my choice in rods are always with a nice foregrip.

The Pic I saw makes them look a lot nicer than that animated pic. The handles actually look more like carbon fiber and aren't the solid black like in that pic.

I was going to trade in one of my rods Today but I'm going to wait and see how long before these come out.

Well you better buy up all the non flashy rods you can because what you're looking at is the future. You hear all the fuss about JDM rods and now that type of styling is finding its way here. The success of the Abu Garcia Vendetta is what I believe started the look, they made a rod with some bling at a relatively cheap price point and what sets it apart is that it actually outperformed its price point and thus the value rod wars was on. Being a spinnerbait and jerkbait fanatic the split grips are great for me, I don't have the entire inside of my forearm red from the cork rubbing all day yet it still retains the butt end so I have an anchor point, not all like the new styling and truth be told, I could care less how it looks as long as it is omfortable for me to fish and it has the performance. What worries me is when they go for looks and disregard performance, that is when it will be a problem but I really don't think you have to worry, St. Croix hasn't touched the Avid line and G.Loomis only added the NRX line and upgraded the GL2, the rest will keep the conservative style that they always had because the older anglers who typically have more money will be the ones buying those rods while the new styling is meant to attract a younger crowd.

Well if this is the future look of rods I will be investing in the equipment to make my own rods... I have been looking for a good reason to do so anyway. I have one split grip rod and it's just not for me, much prefer the feel and look of the traditional long cork handles.

X2 Truer words were never spoken. For all you playing the stock market, a hot tip, when they stop making real rods with a complete handle, you better start buying shares in companies that make rod building equipment!! Before long Cabelas and Bass Pro will be making fishing pants that have the crotch at knee level, made to wear the waist band around the top of the thigh!! :rolleyes7:

Thank God I have a bunch of IMX, GLX and GL3 rods from Gary Loomis time, before Shimano, for this new generation of rods just does not do anything for me. Next thing you know they will be making reels out of foam in bright neon pink with fake diamonds studs, disco lights and bell bottoms and every time you cast the tune Pants On The Ground will play out of a little speaker on the foam side plate cover. LOL
