Hey I've been hearing nothing but great things about them and for the price how could I miss.

I'll post some pictures of the first bass I catch with them.

What is the difference between wire tie and rattle band?

  • Author

The wire tie is where I will use copper wire to secure the skirt onto the jig. The Rattle band is a rubber band that secures the skirt to the jig. Wire tie is permanent without cutting it off and completely ruining the skirt. Rattle bands can be taken off and changed. The band also has two collars that you can put rattles on if you would like.

The wire tie is the most durable.

What is the difference between wire tie and rattle band?

With wire tie the skirt is secured to the jig via wire. The wire is tied around the jig and skirt. With the rattle band the skirt is pulled through the band, and the hook is threaded through the hole in the band. Then the band is slid up the shank of the hook. The band has places on it where you can add or remove rattles. The wire tie will last longer and won't slide down the shank like a rattle band can. Rattle bands eventually rot; therefore, a wire tie lasts a lot longer.

If you are in need of some jigs, there's no reason to be afraid. Mike's jigs are high quality at a bargain price.

Nah, I'm not afraid of the jigs, as a matter of fact I ordered up some custom colors that Mike will make up for me. There's lots of jig brands out there, but they might have a color I like, but not in the size I want, or I might not like their hooks. It's great to be able to have someone like Mike that will do a custom build.

Want to give some of these jigs a try along with my northstar collection. Is the big o series the way to go? And what colors and head style would be good for clear lakes with grassy bottoms?

Great promotion, free shipping at only $20 that's what they call consumer friendly!

1 oz, Big O (wire tied), Falcon Lake color. Match this up with the Rage Tail Lobster (Falcon Lake).

:dogdog:

I'll call it "crazy" good! I just placed my order. Should cover all my jig needs through the fall. Very good marketing/promotion.

Thanks!! The Big O is the best jig I make. It uses a XXX strong Owner hook. I have fished alot of jigs over the years but have yet fished one as tough as this one. I'd use the brush head.

The Grass Jig I have would be great also for what you are asking.

Roadwarrior is right. The falcon craw is a good one. Any of the browns/greens or mixes work very well for me.

  • Super User

Well...I still like the Big O in black, too!

  • Author

Oddly, an all black jig is one of my least selling colors. I haven't quite figured that one out yet.

Just got my order and all I can say is WOW these things look great!!

And the Black Light Green Pumpkin skirt is going to be killer around here. ( sorry about the bad lighting)

I'm going to be using the Elite Jig Head (widegap) for a prototype swim jig so more on that later.

I'm defiantly going to be a regular customer.

Wow, that was quick. Thanks for the good words. The black/light green pumpkin is a growing color.
