coffee scent?

Featured Replies

Yes we have the MegaStrike scent and Kickin Bass scent threads, but reading some of KVDs comments had him talking about coffee scent...

The main area I found it was HERE.

Strike King introduced five new 'KVD's Favorites' Coffee Scented soft baits. They contain a lot of salt and the Coffee scent is said to add appeal as it masks human scents and other undesirable oils, claims the company.

"Getting back to the coffee, we did a lot of tests with it. Bass seem to bite it more and hold it. An added benefit is, when you have coffee in a bait, it darkens the color up a bit - in a very natural way. It's hard to match any other way what the coffee added to the plastic color does. So you get a natural, little darker color that's hard to come by any other way," reveals Kevin.

So has anyone tried storing bait in used coffee cans maybe with a little of the grounds left?? Any brand work better than another?  ;D

I'm a strong believer in coffee tubes I caught several 4-5 pounder last year including a few on beds and I could tell a difference between that and just a jig as far as the fish holding on in the coffee tubes favor

Alot of the Rage Tail baits I use have coffee scent added to them. I don't know if the scent really works, I think it's just the action of the bait. I bet if I got some RT baits without any scent on them I would catch just as many fish.  ;D

I like the scent, but I still add MegaStrike!

Being a smoker, I will take any scent over nothing. A lot of what I buy is based on whether I find it in coffee. Otherwise i have my JJ's.

I don't know exactly what the fish think of Camel lights but I would imagine they're smarter than me! ;D

I was at Bass Pro last Sat. and I saw a can of coffee sent in a spray can. So if you like the coffee  sent you can spray it on other baits. ;)

lol I smoked for 16 years and recently quit. I still have an occasional cigar to take the edge off but the bream seemed to bite better when I blew smoke on the bait... haven't seen much difference with bass though.

I do drink coffee almost every morning so I think when I get low on grounds, I will use some coffee grounds in the softlure bag and seal it so it should be ready by my next outing.

I bought some coffee tubes and caught fish the very first outing.  I am starting to pour my own and will try some with with coffee myself and see.

I tried Tim Hortons coffee but it seemed to turn off the fish. Probably too bitter. Next time I will try adding some sugar and cream.

Haha!

I bought some rage tail just recently, they also came in with the scent.

BUT i am still debating my self whether scents really work, but lets leave that for another thread.

I like the scent of coffee very much, especially in the morning.

In the afternoon though, I prefer the smell of garlic.

With regard to the olfactory preference of bass....I have not a clue

thats pretty much why  asked the question here ;)

Starbucks is coming out with their own line of plastics, the MOCHA line.  They added a half-caff because the bass fought harder on full-caff. The colors are predominately browns and tans.  You can also buy easy listening CD's with them.  Flipping, a scone and coffee flavored worms.....what more could you want.

Which is better?

Regular or decaf?  ;D   ;D   ;D

I started using Strike King Coffee tubes last year and I was really impressed. It seemed if I worked an area with a worm and caught a few fish or didn't catch any fish, I could toss these tubes in and catch 1-2 additional fish.

After having this happen on multiple outings, I stocked up!

Plus they just smell good!
