Strapping Your Phone In On Bumpy Rides On Windy Days

Featured Replies

Wouldn't it be cool if you could strap your iPhone or any other phone to your console, around your cup holder, or anywhere else you can wrap it around on your boat too keep it from jingling around on long or rough windy runs? You could use velcro but could be Velcro really hold up if it gets wet from waves or from the bumpy rides?

Yes it can. I use Velcro to hold my iPhone while looking at the navionics app and it stays put no matter where I go.

I use something really high-tech and waterproof....

My pocket. :)

until you fall out of the boat like us old guys tend to do.

I have my Iphone in an otter box in a suction cup phone holder.

My phone, wallet, keys, camera all go in a "MinnKota" floating, waterproof bag stored below deck.. I only retrieve the camera for a nice fish. Everything else is safe & dry when I get back to the dock. I don't answer the phone, I only carry it in case I get stuck.

Me too!

Everything in a secured bag.

But can't that bag be thrown around? It doesn't protect your phone too much

The whole idea of the bag is to protect the gear. It is stored inside a closed compartment when under way. Maybe a picture will make it clearer.

Otterbox + Ram Mount for the IPhone

Griffin Survivor + Ram Mount for the IPad

Works like a charm.

Turn it off, stuff it in a zip top sandwich bag and keep it in you pocket. Your fishing will improve!

Phone goes with the other emergency gear.(Flares, matches etc) in a waterproof box stored in a hatch below deck.

The rear compartments get very littl movement even in rough water and cushion by spare clothing and towels stored in the same compartment. I store my electronics in this compartment when trailering the boat and when I remove the sonar units to mount them on the boat, I place my phone, wallet, keys in a padded bag in the same compartment. This way I always know where everything is stored, safe dry and cushioned.

plasticb ziplock bag in the tackle bag

Keys and wallet are in a ziplock bag, my shorts have a zippered pockets. My partner stows his cell and we have a radio in case we have to call sea tow, my phone stays in my car. I have a camera in my tackle bag that I hardly ever use offshore, unless it's a very exceptional fish that we are going to release. My partner could care less about a picture, I may take one back at the dock if it's a really good fish.

I also use a ziplock bag to store phone.

Thanks Ronnie for the link. They have some great stuff.

Its a 2 stroke penalty for using a cell phone while fishing.

Oh crap!!! wrong sport but it ought to be a penalty.

I found a waterproof cell phone case at WalMart but the phone still rattled around in it some. I took a neoprene beer coozie and cut it up to line the case, now my cell phone doesn't rattle around in the case.

I have to keep my cell phone on my while I fish, every so often I get a call that would be really dumb to ignore.

X2 Thats the same high tech piece of equipment I use, the good old pocket.

Phone goes into my pocket, and I only look at it for the time or to make a voice recording to help me remember something.

might want an app that gives lake conditions so if it's that rough you know to stay home! :others-288: otherwise the otterbox or defender case with velcro or the box shown or bag. mine is in a defender case and inside a dry bag.
