I have no experience with the lews or the new shimano reels.

I am a fan of the older shimano reels and the revos. They could be a little smaller for palming ( revos) but with the new gen I think that might have been addressed.

Can I get some votes

Quality wise any of those listed will hold up with proper care. Feature wise the SX is a magnetic only brake design which some find hard to dial in. Beyond this its all personal preference and hard to go wrong.

Chronarch, hands down winner of the category.

My suggestion is a Gen 3 SX (lighter and better looking than the gen 2) or if you can find a gen 2 Premier on sale, i highly suggest getting that. The Pflueger Patriarch is another really good reel for the $200 mark. If your purchasing off everyones vote, you will end up with the Shimano, the Shimano guys are loyal and have the numbers.

I have an older magnetic only STX I like. I like my Curado. I like my Chronarch. I like my Tournament Pro. Looks like I can't be of any help to you. Sorry.

I have a BPS Megacast. Lews Tournament Pro & Lews Laser MG of the 3 I like the Lews Tournament Pro best if has both the centrifugal brake and the magnetic. The best prices I could find for the Lews TP was on ebay at around $150 for new. My Lews TP is by far the best casting and the smoothest of the 3 I have.

The Lews Tournament is magnetic only. If you not is a hurry refrubished Lews show up on ebay at good prices from time to time. The Tournament usually goes for about $85

Yes we are loyal, to good product. Hard to beat a quality Shimano. A Curado or Chronarch E is a good choice.

Gen 2 Abu Garcia Revo STX. With the discounts now, it's less than $159. I have owned 6 of these at one time. The good, strong drag and casts a mile. The bad is high maintenance, I had to clean mine every third or fourth time out and it's a tad heavier than some of the others listed.

I own the curado e5, e7, chronarch dsv before the new updated ones, a core,also own 3 of the revo sx reels not the gen 3s. So I have no problem with the magentic drag

The only reel I don't have experience at all with is the lews.

I just dont know about the new shimanos or revos. Chronarch is also 50 bucks more than the revos. The old revo sxs I have are a little big in the hand especially once Ive been using my core for a while...

I own a Chronarch I like it so far, its my first BC reel. Do own a dozen or so Shimanos over the past 15 years. Not knocking ANY brand just saying from my personal experience they make quality stuff that simply works great.

Gen 3 Revo STX, or a Gen 2 Premier. Both are much smoother than those coffe grinder Shimano Curado E's or the current Chronarch.

There are two different Lew's reels that wear the name Tournament. One, the Lew's Tournament MG, is magnetic braking only. The other, the Lew's Tournament Speed Spool, is dual centrifugal and magnetic braking. Then you have the Tournament Pro, which is also dual.

Okuma Helios. Have 2 and LOVE EM! Cabelas had em for $149 to boot! After that I'm pretty fond of my Lew's Tourney Pro and my Zillions. (although the zillion might be a bit pricey unless you can find a good deal on a used one)

Get a Lew's Tournament Pro. I have 2 Curado E series reels, which are great reels, but I prefer the Tournament Pro's. The Tournament Pro is very smooth, it is very light, it has a dual braking system, and it is very easy to palm. You really couldn't go wrong with any of your options, but this is the reel I would go with. Don't forget that you can get 20% off your orders to Tackle Warehouse through Tuesday.

Chronarch or Tournament Pro. Choose which one you like.

I have some shimanos but much prefer my lews tournament pro. That thing is so smooth.

Sounds like I may need to give the lews a shot, especially since ive tried the rest
