  • My absolute favorite color of Senko is Black with Blue glitter. There are others that I will use if my favorite isn't producing that day, but overall Black with Blue glitter takes the cake for me.

  • Never found a color that didn't work as well as every other color I threw.

  • The local club "classic" last fall was won with a yellow senko with red and green glitter, the only senko to catch anithing that day.

hmmm... I couldn't find anything about colors in the "Got a question about senkos" sticky thread, so here goes...

I like most of the dark colors but my favourite would probably be watermelon w/ black flakes.

I personally think you only need two colors.  A shade of green and black.  Then there are variations with sparkles, swirls, etc.  All of last year I only used two colors of senkos and it cut down on a lot of the clutter in my tackle bag and made picking a bait a whole lot easier.  It was either Watermelon w/ red sparkles or Black and blue laminate.

Dark.

42, 194J, 208 & 297 will cover it all.

If Yamamoto discountinued the 031 (Blue Pearl) color in Senko's and Flat tails I'd be in BIG trouble!!  The 031 color is the closest color to mimic teh color of baitfish.  Silverish with silver flakes.  Awesome color for spots.

i like the crayfish looking color i think its 193 or 196

I like Watermelon/black flake alao Green Pumpkin.

4" or 5" Watermellon w/ red or black flakes

The only ones i use very heavily are

326 (clear w/ gold, silver, and black)

213 (junebug)

913 (2 toned, green pumpin w/ cahrtreuse tail)

901 (laminate, watermelon and white)

i used 327 and 213 all the thime in '04, and then i bought 913 and 901 which were big baits in '05.

For me the best colors:

Watermelon w/ black flakes

Green pumpkin

Junebug

Black/blue laminate

I like dark solid colors for my senko colors. Dark blue and black are my Favorits. During really sunny days when water clarity is good i use a watermelon color.

Green Pumpkin

Watermelon/ red and black flake

BABY BASS, perfectly mimics many types of sunfish

Also Junebug is good

I like to see the variety of diffrent bass fishermen here. Some think that diffrent colors of diffrent lures can immitate diffrent kinds of bait fish and there others that think only natural colors immataite what they look like.

Ex.

some belive A 6 inch worm can immatate a minnow. However for me no matter what the color is a worm immitates a worm nothing ealse.

  • 1 month later...

I just bought a pack of Yamamoto Senkos in watermelon with black flakes and then I bought a Tiki Stick in Smoke/Shad.

Anyone have any luck with Smoke/Shad Senko-type baits?

I have caught alot of bass on Shad color Kinami Flash in the 4" size, in ultra clear water.  I tried the Tiki Worm in the shad color, that is lamenated with a white belly.   No bass but plenty of landlocked saltwater fish like Snook and Reds.
