Shimano Posse Rejoice

So as many of you know Shimano cut corners on their last model release in the U.S. market, but I found the solution to my disappointment the new Metanium XG.  It has a 8.5:1 ratio and is buttery smooth with the new mico gearing, can't wait to try it out and see how it performs in the field!

Any idea what the IPT is for gearing that high?

Beautiful reel!

It's on my hit list.

Congrats on the Sweet reel ~

But doesn't that handle need an upgrade ?

Going to try it out as is since Shimano was using their heads on this design and speced a full 100mm handle, they could have used carbon or some other EXOTIC metal......shhhhhh more to come!

Just flat slough awesome. Check in with a report if you don't mind, once you get it out on the water.

Thanks for sharing!

Any idea on a rod for it?

Nifty reel for sure - very cool !   However, I think the posse would rejoice "more" if there was an equivalent USDM model with parts support. I wonder what Shimano will show at ICAST?  Hopefully, some of this kind of stuff.

Thanks,

My first JDM was a Shimano Calcutta about 10-12 years ago, currently have an older generation Metanium, and some JDM Zillions. Regret selling my old Scorpion though :-(!

I have 2 of the HG reels that I've put a little time on this spring. Thus far I'm extremely infatuated with them. They're simply incredible.

I don't think Long Mike is going to be next in line for this reel.

Lowe's has bailing wire, coarse steel files and axel grease on

clearance this week.  Mike can upgrade his Floogers for a great

price!

With that list what does he do with them, dredge the lake.... :hahaha-024:

Wowwww...looks nice.  Please report back to how it does.

Beautiful. Now how about a field test report.

  • Super User

I will be very interested in a field report.....

  • 2 weeks later...

I got a chance to fish this reel, Friday night.  The retrieve on this thing is just sick....fast and smooth.  I need one...

Of course, it might have helped that we upgraded the handle a little bit...  :evil4:
