I was.  At first I said "I have the big bass in the bag".  Then in about 5 seconds I thought " Wow this is going to be a nice catfish."  We caught several.  After about a minute or so I new I was a Drum major.  It was about 8lbs 1oz if I remember right.

That's awesome, dude, lol.

I can't tell you how many times I've thought I have the next state record smallie on, only to realize it's a stinkin' sheephead.

I call them dorkfish after Bill Engvals skit about catching a fish with a bad overbite on a corndog. I'm sure if you fished a mini corndog long enough you'd catch one. I've had my heart broke more than once by one of the ugly things. They fight so much like a big smallie until they start to roll.

A rattle trap.  LOL

Gene was my witness. So I give him partial credit for this.  He was the one to tell me to fish a spinnerbait in 10 ft of water.  I was lazy and had a trap on.  Threw it out there and let it sink for about 10 seconds.  Reeled it back and that is what happened.  That is what I get for not listening to Gene. :laugh5:
