I Won My Battle With Prostate Cancer

My PSA was at 8.0 when my 45 treatments of radiation started. Right now a month after the treatments ended my PSA is now at .02 I'm a very lucky guy. Now I can go fishing soon. For all you guys out there get this blood test to check your PSA. This prostate cancer is hitting the younger men too. Early detection is the key to survival. Now I know how something feels inside a microwave. But I have a new life now. I have a second chance. Everyday I want to go bass fishing. I just spent a lot of money on fishing equipment that I want to try to wear out soon.

If you have your health enjoy it. Live life to the fullest.

Remember to take a kid fishing. God bless, bigbill

Blugill, we all will get prostrate cancer if we live long enough.

You are right on target with including the PSA test when getting your annual physical.

I was in a prostrate cancer study for the Medical College of Virginia and after the test was concluded I found out that I was taking two placebos. Glad I did as the Vitamin E guys seemed to have their PSA's increase at a faster rate.

The digital exam is also important. As my doctor says when the starts the procedure, "This is why I went to medical school!"

Excellent news. Congrats and thanks for the word of wisdom.

I never let having cancer bother me. I stayed very positive all the way thru it. I was very shy during the radiation treatments when they started it was the tech gals who made relax and saved me from walking out. They all are awesome and so nice and understanding. I had no choice to survive or not my life was in the hands of our creator in the end. I guess all the prayers worked. I'm enjoying the new 3yo grandson once he calms down we'll take him fishing soon. I hope he becomes my sidekick. I'm in charge of buying him toys while all my family members are stoking his college fund. God bless, bigbill

Btw, Having the new kindle fire HD got me through the rough times between being in touch with everyone plus having the Pandora music and the games. It really kept me busy.

Great news bigbill!

Congratulations!

Get out there and catch some big 'uns!

Tom

Congratulations on the great new bigbill. God Bless you and your family.

Great news Bill. This disease is highly treatable when detected early enough. Everyone should be getting checked regularly. My favorite cousin would be dead if he hadn't stayed on top of things.

I just spent I think 3k on bass fishing stuff I went more over board than I thought. Oh well I'm stocked up for non stop fishing.

Right now I want a bass boat and a motorcycle in the spring. I'm a changed man.

I don't know you, but it made me smile and felt good to read your post.

Very glad you've got this second chance at life man.

thats excellent man but please get yourself checked like you are supposed to and never miss anything...i just had a friend die of it...he did the whole treatment and they thought it was gone or it was gone...then he went for his next check up about a year later or maybe little less and they doctor told him he had 3 months to live and he died a couple days later

so just because its gone now always keep up on it...i dont want to hear about anyone dying on the forums :D

I didn't let it get me down. I'm going to enjoy each day like it was my last anyway.

For over a decade now my challenge to myself is to break the 12lb 14oz state record

for LMB. My PB so far is up to 10 lbs. I never push the fall fishing because I get burned out by then fishing 24/7 from the spring everyday up at 3:30am and fishing till 9am if I last that long. This year I'm going to push the fall fishing 24/7 for the first time. I have enjoyed fishing in November before it's iced over. It's almost hammer time. I been cleaning my tackle boxes prepping them for night fishing this way I can find what I need in the dark. This way I can change my lures with no problems.

If you have your health live life to the fullest everyday.

Remember we only pass this way once.

My Dad had Prostate Cancer in his early 90's, his Dad died from it at 104.  I got it at the rip old age of 41.  Everybody should get checked for it even if they and their Dr. feel they are too young to worry about it.
