I am in the market for a tow Vehicle... not sure what brand I want. What do you use, and are you happy with it? I will be buying used and reliability as the top of the list.

How heavy a boat?  Makes a big difference.  I tow my 22' Bullet with a 1/2 ton Sierra.  6.2l, towing package, 4x4, Z71 suspension, 6 sp. auto.  If I did it again, I'd skip the Z71.  The ride is a little rough, and I get a bit of wheel hop on bumpy roads.  No issues getting to speed or stopping while towing.

Tundra or nothing. I have owned ford, Chevy, Dodge, everything over the last 15 years, and I will always be a Toyota man after this last truck.

I have towed everything I've ever needed to tow with my '99 F150, 2v 5.4l V8, 4x4, 3.73 LS diff. I absolutely love my truck, I am a ford man through and through. So IMO, pick whatever vehicle you like the best, with the powertrain combo that will suit your needs, if it is strictly a tow rig, and get it or this is gonna turn into a huge "my truck is better than yours" battle.

We had a couple guys with them in our club.  On long distance trips, they seemed like they were filling up constantly.  I know the fuel economy is comparable amogst brands, but do they have a small tank or something?

yeah I would say that it really depends how big your boat it is. on the other hand I saw a guy pulling a 14 ft aluminum with a ram 3500 dually last week. if you're only using it for towing I would pick whatever you like the best

I am going to say most any 20 foot glass boat can be handled with a 1/2ton/1500.

 

I personally have a  Ram 1500 Longhorn 4x4 (32gal gas tank)

The rule of thumb I use is th two capacity of the vehicle needs to be close to two time the weight being towed. This way you'll get good performance when towing your boat in any hills.

As far as reliability...is there anything more reliable than Toyota? The only draw back you might have is that they hold their value very well, so even used is pricey.

I rolled over 100k last week as well. Have the video on my phone. Wouldnt let my wife drive the truck all week. I had to be the one to do it. Yes I love my truck that much!

sounds like a scary emergency stop waiting to happen. i traded my V-8 Mercury Mountaineer for an F150 because i couldnt stop my boat well at all. the newer Explorer/Mountaineer might be better.

I should also note that it has trailer brakes. That alone makes a huge difference
