Since Nicole and Taylor both love fishing, we spend somewhere around 15K per year if you include our family vacations which are always on a lake somewhere in the South East US.

4 grand on fishing, what you selling, lol na  about 500 a year.

having working parents that support you fishing as well as saving birthday and Christmas money helps out a lot. I admit I'm spoiled but that's all I spend money on pretty much.

It's all good man.  I guess I'm a little jealous.  I miss the days of being 16 and not having to worry about bills and whatnot.

I have quite a few friends that fish and that's pretty much our lives haha.

_{Guessing here, but I would say around $4,000.   That is with a borrowed boat from my dad.   I have a 14 year old who is highly skilled and thinks little about grabbing $5 Hack Attack jigs and $7 spinnerbaits, whether he or I pay for them.  It is usually me paying though.  I figure I have him for just a few more years in the house and if his portion of the cost is $2,000 in total, that is cheap insurance on keeping him out of trouble and serves as an incentive for him to do well in school and get a high paying career.  He recognizes how much things costs and normally buys his own rods, reels and quite a few of his lures.  One day we were filling up the boat and truck and a beater truck pulled in and put 1 gallon of gas in his truck and then buzzed off.  He couldn't figure why someone would do that.  I told him "because he's broke".}

 

_{We are two hours from Guntersville so we figure if we spend a night or two in a one star hotel, we will save truck gas.  The sweet spot for us seems to be two nights at the hotel = three days of fishing.  We save about 30 or 35% that way, so the third day costs nothing, not to mention the savings of wear and tear on the truck.  One trip to and from the lake vs three trips is gas/truck wear savings.  Just have to allocate the days.} 

Great question. I have no idea. It's not like I spend whenever I like. Everyone in my family knows I love to fish, so during the holidays and my birthday I load up on BPS gift cards. My CC is also a BPS card so I load up on points. Last year I did spend a lot $$ on 3 reels but this year not much. I hold on to my gear for a while.

I have not spent much this year on fishing. The only reason is that a few years ago my local tackle shop had a huge deal when they were remodeling there store. Most of the stuff was marked down 50% or more so I decided to stock up on everything that I would need. I however do buy line and hooks ever so often and I do also pick up a few bag of plastics and the occasional rod & reel. 

I don't even want to think about how much money I spend on fishing in a year, but I'm glad to read that I'm not crazy and dropping four digits on fishing gear is actually a normal behavior. 

Between lures, line, hooks, weights, multiple state licenses, club memberships, tournament/derby entry fee's etc. I spend a good chunk of money. This year was the worst because I upgraded all of my equipment. GC's on the holiday's and birthday's served me well, so take $150 off of my out of pocket cost. Also when family went on vaca this year they came back from BPS with about 20 lures for me. 

20 free lures and $150 in giftcards aside, it's safe to say that I've probably spent 2k on fishing gear this year, not including gas/food.

What a loaded question. I have more than I will use in my lifetime.

 

I have two 30-something sons and together we spend five figures/year or more on gear. Throw in travel and the boat and trucks and tournament fees, etc. and it would be scary to know. I keep all the gear receipts in a box, and the box is quite full!

Not quite. The woman would respond telling you how much she saved when she went shopping. You will never know what she spent, only what she saved. How much did I save on my fishing gear? I haven't got a clue.

Let's just say that when I die I hope my wife does not sell all my fishing gear for what I told her I paid for it

 

I'm well into 4 digit territory so far this year and there's no end in site...

I don't have a boat so I miss all of that cost.  I spend most on line, tackle, and baits.  Probably in the range of $200, and that is not counting gas.
