What Bait Do You Prefer On A C-Rig?

Featured Replies

I'm going to try a C-rig tomorrow for the first time.  I've done a search, and found all kinds of stuff about how to put one together, and how to actually fish it, but not much on what bait to use with it.  I'm thinking that a floating bait would be preferred over something like a senko, but since I've never fished this before, I thought I'd asked for tried and true baits.

I was thinking a Berkley 10" PowerBait worm, or possibly a brush hog or baby brush hog.  Would these work?  What do you prefer?

Thanks,

Dave

Big worms and brush hogs are good choices. I also like a trick worm. Then again, trick worm is my answer to everything.

I have only used senko style baits and brushogs with success.

Worms, I use a split shot rig unless there 10" or 12" worms I cast them with no weights if I'm in the shallows to 4' deep water.

You can use almost anything.  I know guys who killed them with a C-Rig and a Super fluke.  I like either a Creature Bait or a Big worm.  Brush Hogs/Skeet Wide Load, Havoc Hawg,  Seriously, the options are endless.

Lizards, frenchfrys ,brushhogs all work along with others. Switch it up if your not getting bit until the fish tell ya what they want.

Use whatever soft plastic baits you have confidence in for that body of water.  My personal preference is for C-rigging is a Zoom lizard or Smallie beaver) but that's based on my fishing locations.  I have C-rigged almost every variety of soft plastic I have ever owned... and caught fish on almost all of them, at onle place or another.

Especially for tournament guys in the back of the boat.

It's gotta be the best C-rig bait in the world. Big O himself will tell you that he can be outfished in his own boat, in his own waters, if he's using a jig or T-rig, and the other guy breaks out the C-rigged Eel. It didn't work for me, but apparently, it can be done. Light wire 4/0, 18" leader, on a braid mainline.

Oh no!! The bait monkey is popping up all over the place! Hide your wallets gentlemen..

Zoom lizards, buby brush hogs and finesse worms have worked the best for me. Try whatever soft plastic that has been a good producer for you this year first.
