I had used the lures tht were given to me and they didn't catch anything. probably my fault...I did everything I new how to do. Watching KVD do it I tried it and didn't work. Watched hours of video on spinnerbaits but still didn't help. I used braid because I'm comfortable with it.

Help Please wht did I do wrong

Some days they want them and others not so much? Spinnerbait days for me are feast or famine, I catch one or two one day then 40 the next. Don't give up as the fall is when they seem to work best.

 Today we had a ok overcast a wind going to the east at about 5-8 mph 

The cover/structure were logs and stumps...some weed edges

Like any other technique, some days it's not what they want.  I throw a spinnerbait a lot, number 1 search bait this season.  Keep it up, I'm sure you will get it sooner or later.  Also, I find keeping it simple is better to learn to use a spinnerbait.  Just throw it out and do a continuous and steady retrieve, once your start getting confidence, then add the other things.  You can over think/over work a lure imo.

Try messing with your blades also. Gold for murky water silver for clear. Colarado blades give more vibrations and move at slower speeds but willows are more flash but move at faster speeds. I generally love them for windy choppy days but on calm days I always use them also. A 1/2oz chart with double willow smaller silver blade and large golden blade is my go to. Hope this helps.

I feel your pain, I haven't hardly been able to buy a spinnerbait fish this year. I caught quite a few really early in the year when the water was still pretty cold but almost none since then.

You probably didn't do anything wrong. In S FL when the water temps soar into the 90's it becomes very difficult (at least for me)  to get the bass to chase anything. I usually do much better fishing with slower moving bottom presentation baits such as worms, creature/craw/tube baits, flukes  and jigs. When the temps fall a bit lower in a month or so the SB bite should pick up. In KVD's video he seems to stress high speed presentations. I have had little to no success year round fishing spinnerbaits in this manner. I have done much better fishing them slower and lower with frequent pauses and twitches. Bump them into cover whenever possible. You should do fine in a month or so. Good Luck!

In this sport every bait has a time and place, the first thing you have to learn is to recognize when a particular bait (s) is going to work, the only way you will learn how to recognize when is by fishing with it (them) if it works --->  great ! remember the conditions and when you find those conditions again then, most probably, it will work again.

 I feel as though your being critical. I had a guys use them the same day and the same conditions that I had

I have ZERO confidence in them. I have thrown all kinds of spinnerbaits, wakebaits, and buzzbaits with no luck at all. I think I have only got one fish in my life on a spinnerbait. All kinds of different colors, blades and weights, same results.

 Agreed no results I have zero confidence the only bite I got was from this color a chart. purple and white with gold blades

My new quick fish on the fly tackle box just isn't working out. I need to carry more tackle. But the water was muddy and I put on a citrus colored bomber crankbait and it caught fish.

We need to read the water conditions and match the lure color to the water conditions. When we aren't catching fish we need to get back to basics.

 I got invited back to this pound...and Im going to try a new setup and see if that helps.

Keep in mind everyone and their grandma uses spinnerbaits..

The fish has probably seen more spinnerbait than any other lure..

Where I fish EVERYONE throws them.. no wonder I rarely see them get the big fish and I mop them up using lures the fish hasnt seen.

That said they still do work (a testament to their effectiveness) and even I resort to them at times.. but I hate the straight retrieve..caught one the other day bouncing it off a wall..plop..

Well, KVD burns them on the surface alot...try diff. speeds and depths...i know when  i was on Coosa they mainly hit slow rolling the bottom.

Ok above the sight line is where you can see the spinner bait but the fish can see you too the speed your reeling it is fast keeping the spinner bait above the sightlines. When you slow it down it goes below the sight line right were the fish are located. If the bass are more aggressive thell strike above the sight line. If there less aggressive thell hit below the sight line when you put the spinner bait in there face. That's a reaction strike. Speed is the key as to where the spinner bait runs at what depth.

If you hold the rod up at 12o'clock and reel it while adjusting the speed your spinner bait will run on top with the blade slapping right and left looking for topwater action.

I haven't done any good on spinnerbaits this year either.  Try something slower that stays on the bottom.  Maybe a Texas rigged Senko, or a baby brush hog.

The setup of the spinner bait matters too. I use the gold color single Colorado blade or the twin Colorado blade or the Indiana and a Colorado blade. On the Colorado blade I sometimes go up one size for more thump. I prefer a blue glimmer skirt. Then I add a white 4" mister twister split double tail grub for a trailer plus a trailer hook. Add one shot of yum shad scent and your good to go. I use this setup for clear to slightly stained water. In slightly stained+ to muddy water I setup a chartreuse color spinnerbait with a hot chartreuse skirt with a MT 4" split double tail grub with a trailer hook. Both of these setups seem to be the hot ticket from shore. I stay between the 1/8oz, 3/16oz, 1/4oz to 3/8oz size from shore. I do use the 3/16oz to 1/4oz spinnerbaits more. Probably because of them having less splash in the shallower water not to spook I the bass.

I love SB fishin. I have noticed though clear shallow water seems to not be favorable, stained water has proven its worth, same thing with cloudy windy days. How are you fishing it? Cast out n retrieve, yoyo,slow roll even a sink and snap can excite them I always have a color matching trailer and trailer hook. A trailor hook I think is very important especially with that grub trailor. The fall seems to be the better season to me, altough when I fished them in years past I was able to catch em all year long by changing blades, ooo thats another thing certain blades do different things.

Very much so. OP you probably didn't do anything wrong but fishing is a lot luck and a little "everything else". If someone was throwing spinnerbaits at the same time and doing better, maybe take a little time to watch them and see what they may be doing different. Speed, depth, proximity to cover, differences in color/size/action of the bait, small twitches or variations in action, etc. can all have a big impact on the overall effectiveness.

Don't get down on them man, it won't work every time even in the hands of a master.
