It will be here before you know it.  I've been sitting on the front porch for a week waiting to be picked up to go.

Late last night, actually about 8:15pm CST, I was in bed almost asleep (4:30am call for a 6am launch this morning) when my iPad lit up with an email from Glenn May.  Glenn & Keri are original boar

Hey Grizz, come anyway I dont have a boat either.

We can always go swinging on the hammock!! ;)

The next 29 days are going to be crazy getting geared up for this trip..... Sunday.... thought I had a Stroke but thank goodness it was just Bells Palsy.. a Virus related to Chicken Pox and makes your face look like.. well... you had a Stroke! So I might be looking like Popeye The Sailor for the next few weeks until the symptoms resolve but will be there to rope some giant Smallies!!!! THE ADVENTURE HAS ALREADY STARTED!!!!

i've been working on my "things to take list" for a couple months...  and already done some preliminary packing....

I was wondering, to those of you who are bringing your wives or significant others, will they be fishing??

I ask because Mrs Mike would like too, just not all day everyday ( if that is what is planned)

She'd be just as happy hanging around the lodge and taking advantage of what it has to offer, or seeing any local sites ( if there are any) for the 4 days we're there.

But being the kind, thoughfull, considerate, understanding guy that I am, I thought I'd ask if anyone else has other plans.

Thanks

Mike

I plan to fish all day every day, we are even getting there 2 days early :)

How about a list of those arriving early?  Maybe we can have a pre-soiree, soiree to compare notes.

Great list of folks going.

You should join us if you can........its a great time.

I'm coming prepared this year with a more than adequate supply of Rage Tail Menaces. What color?  Pumpkin with gold and purple flakes.  They will be rigged on the Gamakatsu 1/8 ounce wacky jig hook.  Button the nose tight to the weight.  Add a drop of super glue to hold it there and you're good to go for several fish.

It's a great weedless presentation.

This is a Rage Tail Grub, but it's rigged the same way.  I rig the flippers in the horizontal position.  Big O suggested trying them in a vertical arrangement.

This is a Jackall wacky jig hook.  Cannot use the Gamakatsu in MASS because the weight is lead.  Wish I could because the vertical shank to the eye catches a lot of grass.  The photo is just to show the way I rig the bait.

My wife isn't going to fish all day or every day. She  enjoys seeing the sites, historical places, horsback riding etc.

Beckie and I are planning on being there Monday night. Not as early as you.

Not sure what Susan will do. She enjoys fishing but probably could be enticed by the other ladies to do some alternate activities.

By the way (Long) Mike, she's my fiance, she likes that status as opposed to just the friend designation. The ladies seem to be particular about these things. Just sayin... :Idontknow:

This is pretty funny....took her crappie fishing last year, she had a great time but decided the Zebco 33 is the greatest reel ever (for her). Soooo...I bought her a couple pink ladies models and have one of them paired with a 6' St Croix Legend Elite Rod (I bought it years ago and seldom use it). Would like to hear Roadwarrior's commentary on the best uses for this combo.... :rolleyes7:

Are you kidding? This is known all over the South as the "Push his Button" man whuppin stick. It seems one of the best uses for this combo has nothing to do with fishing....just sayin :punishment:

Thanks Tom

As I've never fished for smallies I really had no idea what to bring.

Everything I've learned about them is from here on this site.

I'll be going shopping soon!

I wasn't sure how to list Susan.  I figured that "his latest Squeeze, Susan" wouldn't work, so I used "friend."  Anywho I have corrected my mistake.  Apologies to Susan.

No problem....no apology necessary, I Kind of like "HIS LATEST SQUEEZE" but suspect that would have put us both in trouble. Actually she's a really good sport. I told her about all this and she had a good laugh.
