Pfluegar Patriarch Casting Reel

Anyone fished with one of the new ones yet? It's a slick looking reel and I've tried a couple of their spinning reels and really liked them so thinking I might try one of their casting reels. Doesn't hurt that it would look great on one of my LTB casting rods  :eyebrows:

I've heard they are a very underrated reel. I assume you saw they are on sale at Cablea's for 109? I was there yesterday afternoon digging through the reels until i remembered they don't come in lefty :cry4:

I believe that he is asking about the new Pflueger reels that were released this year.   I have owned and fished the older reels and they were very nice in terms of casting and smoothness, they were however very heavy compared to similar models of other mfg's.  if that is not a problem then they are a very good reel.   The new ones are more comparable to the Abu Gen 3 reels but feel even more cheaply made in my opinon, while they are light, and fairly smooth, I just could not get past the cheap feel of the new reels.    I have not fished them and only had  limited amount of time in store to evaluate them, I will say that it did not take me long to know that they are not a reel that I would be interested in using.

I was asking about the new ones. I really haven't gotten to play with one yet (mainly because it's such a hassle to have someone get one out of the case at BPS). I guess I'll have to flag someone down next time and mess with one a little bit, not looking to drop $200 on a reel that doesn't feel solid.

The new ones are very light, all three top models. I am surprise there hasn't been much media coverage or advertisement from Pflueger on the release.

The Pflueger Patriarch comes lefty - I just bought a new one.

Waiting for a review.  :teeth3:  Hopefully the new ones are as good as the older models.
