Fishing Lodges Somewhere Warm

Featured Replies

Anyone have recommendations on a full service fishing lodge in ar, tn, fl, tx, al, etc.? Looking for somewhere with lodging, meals, boats, and guides all inclusive.

I have spent some time researching and haven't found much so thought I'd check here.

Have you stayed there? I'd rather stay in the us, but if you have experience at Baccarac, I'd love to get your thoughts on the place.

Been there twice this year. Going again next March with 7 others from this board. Take a look at this last thread from out Nov trip.  Maybe Jeff (00 mod) will insert a few links from his first trip & our 2nd trip.

Take a look at these.  They all can take care of your needs, and they all have been the headquarters for one of our annual BR Road Trips.  Why don't you join us on our next trip?

Pickwick Landing State Park, Pickwick Dam, TN

Hampton Inn, Guntersville, AL

Moore's Resort, Kentucky Lake

My personal recommendation is Moore's Resort.  It's probably the most "fisherman friendly" place we have visited.  The caveat is that Kentucky Lake, because it is over 90 miles long and runs almost due North and South, can be deadly if the wind comes up in either direction.  A close second is Pickwick Landing, followed by the Hampton Inn.  All of them will suit your needs, as they have ours.

My .02 I went to Florida in February a few years back to fish Lake Toho. It was 70* the day I got there and 27* the next morning and the next 3 days as well. Winter weather is pretty unpredictable. Texas just got dumped on. When are you planning on going?

If I had the cash I'd go to Baccarac!

I live 20 miles from Barkley and Ky lake it's good fishing. But nothing like the monster back to back bass at Baccarac.

And as said Ky lake can get deadly. Most older folks here plain to fish it morning or evening. Because after nine in the morning the average day has enough wind to make for a bone jarring ride.

Barkley is rite beside Ky lake (connected by a short channel) it's not as big, clean/clear , or deep, hence it's less popular to out of towers. Barkely is mud bottom and Ky is mostly rock.

But I'd think a guide there could jump over there if the wind was going to be a problem that day. More then half the people I no with boats fish Barkley. I'd assume mostly do the the wave problem. But they claim the bass fishing is just as good there.

Look up (Land Between the Lakes ) for an over view of both.

If you want more info just pm me and il see what info I can find for you. But I don't personally no anyone unfortunately. And haven't stayed at the resorts. But there are several places there. Not sure what all they offer. If you wanted to go camping I could help a lot. Lol that's more my cup of tea. I don't no what a vacation is. Lol.

I've never been fishing in Mexico but if I were planning a warm weather, winter trip, that's where it would be.   As already mentioned, weather in TX is very unpredictable.

If it were me it would be no question, I'd be going to baccarac. Good reviews from all the guys here who have gone and some monster fish!

Almost Dwight ~ Almost .

The difference may be the wearing of Thermally Insulated Coveralls vs. 50 SPF.

Thanks for all the suggestions. No firm plans yet. May not happen this year depending on work situation, but sounds like I need to check out Mexico!

I drove 20 Hours straight through from RI to fish KY lake for 10 days with a 2 day tourney at the end of the week in April. It was quite the experience "flying" a boat on that lake in the 30mph winds.
