Spro McStick any good

Featured Replies

ive given the McStick several hours on the water... its a decent bait with a nice tight walk to it, but vision 110 it is not. The vision has more of a roll to it. I would say the action is more akin to an ima flit...

ive caught fish on em, but i will say that the 110 and flit have caught more fish in comparison. Not really scientific, just my experience. the price is nice, though.

I've got a few that I throw on occasion, but I just about always reach for my LC pointers when I want to throw a hard jerkbait.

Just picked up two in Nashville. We are on a BIG jerkbait bite on the

Tennessee River right now. I'll post results shortly.

So I am the only one here who thinks the McStick is a MB Vision knockoff? And the SPRO Dawg is not a copy of the Sammy? Like I said I applaud them for the little john as it is an original design.

I got a chuckle when I saw the add for the spro dawg in bassin'. I have really good luck with L.C.'s sammy in MS "american shad" so my eye was drawn to spro's "old glory" color.   ;D

I can't fault a company for making a similar bait to others or even if they tried to copy it exactly. With so many companys, how can you expect them to be original with each type of bait, and expect it to work well? Even if it's "copied" I don't think it will have the exact same action, maybe that will make it a better bait, worse, or maybe just better if different situations.

I bought "Old Glory" and compared it directly with the Pointer

in "American Shad". Maybe the action will be different, but

the color is identical and the profile is very similar.

I tell you what. I will be seeing Mike McClelland tomorrow. I will ask him how many times he had to send the prototype back to the company until they got the bill angle perfect. I can't remember if it was four of five times. I'll ask him if he copied the MB Vision body and bill.

I am sure he put some work into it I just don't think it is an original design.

What a fascinating argument!  I think you should sue on behalf of God. Clearly every minnow bait ever crafted is a blatant attempt at ripping Him off by copying the minnow.  Let us know how the court case goes.

I'm curious how exactly you could come up with an original jerkbait design now?  Give it a short fat body?  Make it lipless?  Build it to reel in tail first?

So now God created the original jerkbait?

I'm not sure either, LOL.  Laurie Rapala must be rolling in his grave.  ;D

You apparently didn't understand my post.

Sorry, sarcasm is lost on some.

I understood just fine and my question was right on par with your statement.

Now let me explain what I mean by "original design" to clarify. When the bait was designed they copy another bait then just make a few changes is not what I consider "original".

Lucky craft pointer is a original design.
