Hello Bass Resource community,

I have been following this site for a little while now and decided to join. There is a lot of helpful information on here, which is awesome.

So a little bit about myself. I am currently living in Germany due to being in the Air Force. I was really starting to get into bass fishing before I moved here. The only downside to living over here is there is no bass fishing around where I live. I have been in the military for almost 10 years now. I'm originally from Kansas.

Seeing how there is no bass fishing over here, I've been doing tons and tons of research to hopefully better myself as a bass fisherman for the GLORIOUS day I'm able to hit the water again. I'm slowly but surely building my arsenal with all sorts of gear. Any and all advice is welcome as I'm always looking for ways to improve. I hope to be able to help people on here (even with my little knowledge) as all of you continue to help me.

Any other questions for me fell free to ask.

I will definitely keep up with the posts. When I left Kansas almost 10 years ago, I wasn't into bass fishing. Now, that I am extremely interested in the sport I am excited to see what Kansas offers. I do come back home a couple times a year (or atleast used to before moving to Germany) so I will be looking to do some fishing. It will be interesting to see how Kansas bass fishing relates to North Carolina bass fishing. I was stationed there for 4 years and that is where I started to bass fish. Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I have been browsing many posts to see everyone's answers and gather valuable info. I have not offered much if any advice because I am still new to the sport. One day I hope to help as you all have helped me.

Always nice to hear from military guys... I am a vet. Myself ... Been to costal Germany in about 86 air wing on board Nimitz! They have awesome clocks there. I think A jay is right, a lot of things can and will change in a few years time. Assuming you will retire from the Air Force . During my many travels I fished for what ever was avail. Yes even off the fantail of Nimitz in port at Ft.Lauderdale,Fl. Welcome to the forums! As always stay safe!

I did 10-1/2 ys in the AF........always wanted to go to Germany......nervier got to.

Read and absorb all you can and exercise that knowledge when you get back home.

It may seem silly to you.....but if I were in your spot....I would at least practice my casting, pitching and flipping. Just to keep my skill set sharp or strengthen them so I could make the most of my fishing time when I got to return.

I was stationed by Frankfurt for some time and I cant tell you how many times I would see a river and wonder if one could fish it. Heard of zander being good which is related to walleye.

It does not seem silly to me at all to practice casting, pitching, and flipping. I have actually been doing that. I also just found out that I have a pond by my house stocked with trout. Don't really know much about trout fishing, but atleast I'll be able to fish.
