Suggestions needed for new sunglasses

Featured Replies

I am looking for a new pair of sunglasses.  I am looking at the 'Solar Bat, Armor #518'  I tried a pair on today and they fit well, and I want the interchangeable lenses feature.

I wear regular prescription glasses but I think I am going to try the disposable contacts with good sunglasses.  The last pair of prescription sunglasses I bought cost me about $300 after the polarizing and other coatings and now the frames are busted/twisted (plastic frames on the dash of the truck for a day..... you can figure out the rest) and the lenses are pretty scratched up.

Any suggestions?   Thanks

I would say buy the nicest pair you can afford, go to the store and try them on to make sure they're comfortable, etc.  The interchangeable lenses are a nice feature.  I have a pair of Costa's and they've been great over the past few years, the lenses are still like new.

I use the "Polar Eyes : Obispo" They work great, and are relatively inexpensive, about 50 bucks

If you can swing a pair, go for Maui Jims.  The best out there.  Often you can get a good deal on them through Ebay.

I have 2 suggestions:

Do what Redlinerobert says because I have a pair of Maui Jim's and they are by far the best polarized sunglasses you can buy if you are willing to put out the money.

The other pair of sunglasses I own are made by a company called H3O. They only have 3 or 4 styles, but each kit comes with 3 different interchangeable colors of polarized lenses: grey, amber, and a hi-vis yellow. They retail for around $120 and I am very pleased with them. www.h3opolarized.com

I wear glasses and I just bought a pair of Cocoons.  There website will help you pick the style you need to fit over prescript. glasses.  They fit great over my glasses and are designed to keep light from coming in around the sides.  They have been on sale for $40.00 with free shipping.  Ordered mine shiped the same day.

Survival Optics sunglasses(SOS). Not expensive for the quality. They are assembled in Flordia i think. Great polarized glasses.

I recently purchased a pair of Native Sunglasses, I absolutely love them. You can find more about them here.

Thanks for the input.   I tried doing a search first, and the only thing that came up was a post about someone trading in their new glasses for a new rod...

I have tried almost every brand out there and I have settled on Solar Bat with Moss Back leses.

I like those H30 glasses someone linked. But my friend has polorized Oakley Half Jackets that I fished in one day and thats what made me buy myself a pair of polarized glasses, they worked really well.

I now own a pair of costa del mars and I LOVE them!

Don't just look a Polarizing if you like your vision you need the best UV protection you can get cheap glasses don't give you the UV protection that you can get with a good pair I like the Solar Bat lineup.
