Rage Tail Shellcracker?

Featured Replies

Hey guys so I want to start trying these out. What are your favorite ways to rig them? I was really like the look of texas rigging them horizontally, but I did want to see what other people thought about them as well. Thanks!

I like to fish them with a 1/8 oz keel-weighted hook.  When you toss it out, it falls in a slow spiral.  In slightly stained water the bass love it.

I like a weighted swim bait hook as well. I rig it side ways. I'll also cut them in half, and nose hook them on a drop shot.

They make a decent Texas rigged bait and swimjig trailer in addition to the ways mentioned above.

Ok thanks, I will likely give it a shot this coming weekend. I am not sure if the weighted hooks I have are big enough or not for it, but if they are I will have to try that. If not i'll stick with the texas rig this trip and pick some other hooks up for next time.

I swim it most of the time on a keel weighted 5/0 hook, but also like turning it sideways and flipping it.

I was pitching one over the weekend with an Owner ZO Wire flipping hook.  I hammered them on it.

One of my favorite swim jig trailers, too!

Whatcha mean sideways? Do you have a pic?

Thanks.

Can't get a pic up right now, but basically rig it as if it were a beaver style bait, not a swim bait.

So the lure is horizontal?

Yep. It kind of flutters on the fall.

I've done well rigging it flat, making it hop a foot or two off the bottom and letting it settle back down.
