What are some good brands for small line like 6-8lb, I have a spinning rod I'm going to use for shaky heads, I wanted some decent line but don't want to spend a whole lot on it. What about Berkeley trilene has anybody tried it? Because its really cheap. And is 8lb line strong enough for finesse fishing and Shakey heads?

Trilene XL is a good line, very manageable, limp, low memory but with literally no abrassion resistance.

Trilene XT is a good line too, less manageable, more memory but much more abrassion resistant than XL.

 

But for your money ----> Yo-Zuri Hybrid 6 lbs test is all you´ll ever need.

6-8lb pline flouroclear is all I use, great stuff...

I just bought some of that trilene for like 5 bucks just to have something to fish with but I'm gonna go try that yo - zuri hybrid when I can pick some up. Thanks guys

I like xps flurocarbon. I would not consider 6-8 light though  I use 2 pound for bluegill and trout. 4 pound for crappie.

I like using a light braid with leader.  May be a bit tougher to tie leader but my spool is always full and line doesn't break in middle on long cast with snag.  Good hooksets too.

My shakeyhead and other finesse fishing is done with 8lb Invizx flouro, tried mono, and co-polymers but found bite detection with the flouro was a lot better. The density of flouro helps on slack line techniques.

I've been using 6lb seaguar senshi mono on my ml spinning rod and I'm pretty pleased with it. Thinking about switching it to 8lb tatsu to give that a shot tho

Trilene XL is all I used for many years.  Still use some.  Have...and still am...trying other brands.  Not because Trilene failed me, but because I want to try other brands.

Either Silver Thread AN 40 or silver thread Excalibur. They are very thin, abrasion resistant, and I have had zero problems with line twist on my spinning reels. TW and Luremet.com carry them. Oh ya, they cast a mile.

I'm liking this this trilene but Im gonna switch to flouro because with mono its kinda hard to tell when a light bite happens. For 5 bucks this trilene is great though just not for my needs.

7 lb test sunline. It's a good in-between
