I am about to start to borrow a friends kayak every now and then to fish out of to try something new out of a boat.

I'm only gonna bring 2 rods when I go so I want to know what fishing line I should get for a all around reel for jigs, C-rigs, T-rigs, spinnerbaits, and stuff like that.

I was thinking 15lb seguar invisx or should I go with a heavier/lighter line?

40lb Braid with a leader.

I would go with 30 or 40lbs braid and use a leader if needed.

I don't like using leaders I would prefer having a line that doesn't need leaders.

With casting gear if say 15# is a good all around diameter. Spinning gear i would have 30# Braid with a leader appropriate dor thw conditions and structure.

Invizx should be a good most purpose. It'll sink if you want to use poppers or walkers so just know that. Yozuri Hybrid would be another good line, as is Suffix mono. All will do. Serious things well, but nothing great.

Casting. To be specific a diawa tatula.

Its not gonna be for topwater, only the things I listed.

If you already know what you want then why are you asking for recommendations on an all around line? Braid would be your best option with a leader.

If you don't like tying leaders then you really don't have any other options.

No evidence available saying braid makes a difference except personal anecdotes.

In fact one scientific experiment found no difference and if the braid is thinner than a nickel then it would appear as a sliver if not nearly unnoticeable to a bass's eyes.

If you want to use expensive memory prone fluoro that will last a season go for it. It still has excellent abrassion resistence.

15lb Invizx is a great all around choice. I use 15lb Tatsu on a few rods. Have a couple spools of 15lb Invizx in my bag for backup. I've had fluorocarbon on a couple reels for multiple years, with zero issues. It will work just fine.

I've never used any co-poly lines before, do you have some good brand names that I can look into?

kvd line conditioner...makes a huge difference for both on my spinning reels..

I use 8lb Yozuri Hybrid Ultra Soft on Spinning and Yozuri Hybrid 10 -12 pound on my baitcasting. I got the recommendation from the guys on here and I love this line. Oh yes and KVD line conditioner.

I tried Yo-Zuri Hybrid for first time this year and really like it.

 

Because of the current rebate, I also bought some P-Line CX from BPS for about a $1. 

 

Only spooled it two weeks ago, but I love it. 

I have to do some more comparison w/Yo-Zuri, but I like both.  Far better than either 'regular' mono or flouro

I'd be more concerned with line diameter than lb test ratings.  Diameter and lb test ratings can change drastically mfr to mfr.

 

I'm not completely sold on fluro lines. TT did a test a while back showing there wasnt much difference between fluorocarbon and monofilament.   Most people that insist one is clearly better than the other have never really done any testing.  Thats not to say there arent some exceptions, tatsu is a very nice line, but overall I'm not sure the added expense is worth it for everyday fishing.

 

That being said I've had some excellent luck with copolymers.  Yozuri hybrid is pretty highly regarded on here and lately I've been using McCoy mean green and xtra clear and its been working great.

 

For standard all around fishing I like a line diameter of .012-.013.  Obviously the heavier/thicker the cover the stronger the line should be.

 

You mentioned gin clear water so I'd probably stock up on some lighter thinner diameter line as well.

Don't overlook the Mccoy... The price is right for me!  Very inexpensive.
