Every Day Lure?

Featured Replies

I live In south jersey where are many smaller lakes to fish but I never really have time to go and when I do I never catch anything. I want to know what a good everyday, anytime of day bait or lure would be best

T-rigged worm, craw or creature bait.

Spinnerbait or a squarebill. Mainly because I have no luck or experience using plastics. Lol

Welcome to the board, it's always a pleasure to see a new 'face' around here.  Only you can determine what a good, everyday bait is for you.  Suggesting a spinnerbait, for example, would be a waste if you either have never fished one or have absolutely no confidence it them.  The same goes for soft plastics.  There are a number of good suggestions here. Pick one that you are comfortable with and fish it exclusively.  Two things will happen. First, you'll learn the lure. The way it feels, reacts to different rod/line movements.  Second you'll gain confidence in both you and the bait.

Once you master both the lure and catching fish with it, it's time to move on to a different bait.    Hopefully, you'll reach a ripe old age before you can say you have mastered all the different style baits out there

Jig and craw.

These are two that I always have tied on.

I'd say square bills would be one choice because you can use them close to cover or more in the open with success

Huddleston Grass Minnow.

To me an everyday bait is either a search bait or a confiendience bait so for me i almost always will have a squarebill, lipless crank, jig, keitech swing impact fat 4.8 in Bluegill Flash (Only size and color that works for me)

Wacky-rigged senko or trick worm.

When we lived in New Jersey, my all-purpose go-to lure was a Texas-rigged

7.5" Culprit plastic worm (any dark color) with a 3/16 oz bullet sinker.

If I tried throwing all of this in one day I would spend more time re-tying than fishing.

Fish is a lot of trial and error. Read, listen, observe, ask questions in detail, take notes and practice, practice, practice. Most of the time fishers are very agreeable to share info. If yopu see other people fishing, pick their brain. Best of luck to you.

I use locking snap swivels.

I don't ask anybody what's hot today. I like to figure it out by my own tactics. I find my system of varying my lure colors and sizes works. Then it's my secret if I was a pro.

Is that a 'lure dump' or Blue Screen Of Death?

Roger

I'm out there in my own zone hammering away.
