Its a amazing smallmouth fishery. No to be a a@# but those you can catch quite frequently on that body of water. Its really not a big deal. A true giant will hit double digits. Just think of the size those would be by october!! Your playin with world class fish then! But 4-5-6s are honestly what you can catch every day of the week. Just lucky to live on such a great clear water fishery.

They gorge on perch and gobies. They do grow monstrous, I have seen them while ice fishing for perch. Just a big shadow...

I drive by Simcoe/Barrie every year on my way up to Temiscoming to fish for smallies at Beauchene.

I have heard stories about that lake and now I know they are true!

We always are in a hurry to get to Orillia to Webers for lunch, but may have to stop off there some time.

The smallies at Beauchene are plentiful and easily get in the 5/6 lb range, but don't think they get much over that, at least I haven't heard of it.

Those are nice smallmouth you caught.

Dinky,

Webers has great burgers. Thats so fun you mentioned that. Lol. But id save the fuel and wouldnt pass Simcoe up. Its Ontarios #1 smallmouth fishery. No other inland lake in the province can ever compare!! Next time drop a line in the lake. If you need a guide pm me and i will point you in the right direction.

I just might do that, bent, since I don't haul my Tracker up there anymore (I leave it in Beauchene year round) and a guide would be real helpful too.

Webers is really famous. I have met Canadians all over the country who are from ON or QC and they all know it.

I will definitely try to make a stop at Simcoe soon! thanks

A little over five on Colorado's Yampa River, on a buzzbait. Five minutes later I got a 38" pike, numerous other 2 - 3 pound smallies, and more pike up to 8 pounds. All the the span of 15 minutes around dusk.

the fish in my avatar. 22" long, didn't have a scale with me so not sure about the weight. the bass weight to length chart puts it at 6.5# so my guess would be somewhere in the 6# range. caught on the Rapala Skitter Pop

There's a lake up near me called Lake Clear just outside of Eganville. It compares to Simcoe but without the crowd. To add, Webers burgers are AWESOME!

I love catching the bronzebacks! I was into the smallmouths before the bucketmouths, mainly because our lakes don't hold largemouth, and i'd have to say my biggest is somewhere around 21''. Never had a scale..don't even want to try and guess the weight

21 1/2 inches don't know the weight caught on a swimbait

22 inch on a tributary of the Niagara River on a 1/4 ounce Chartreuse and White Spinnerbait I made myself!

 Where abouts on the Niagara?

5.25lbs 24" on a Tiny Torpedo. This year I am extremely fortunate to have 5 over 5lbs. Champlain Smallies are getting HUGE on the Alewifes

I'm going to go to Simcoe in 2016. I will have to try that Weber place, with a name like that...

Beat my PB smallie yesterday, 23" and surprisingly only weighed 4.2lbs but still a awesome fish! The fact that she was probably at least 12 years old makes her a trophy in my book. Hit an s-waver 168

I've managed to hit the 5 pound mark right on the head 3 times now, most recently was this one in October 2011 on a tiny Lucky Craft BDS Zero crankbait in American Shad color. She had the tail of an 8-9 inch crappies sticking out of her throat, hence the giant bulge in her stomach.
