One Of My Most Important Pieces Of Gear

I tend to hike when I am not fishing and a lot of talk always surrounds footwear, boots and socks.  Just like people on this forum, we all have an opinion  when it comes to rods, reels and tackle but hikers are worse.  They are gear fanatics.

One thing for me that crosses over from hiking to fishing for me, is my Asolo Powermatic Boots.  I have had these awhile and when I first got them, I thought my feet are going to fry in these things.  After using and putting them through hell, rain and snow, my feet never get wet, they never get hot, and my feet never hurt.

The reason I bring it up is, I was thinking what was the one thing I can't do without that I always have when I go fishing.  I was looking at rods, reels, and other tackle.  Then I realized it was my boots.  They are always with (on) me when I fish and I can't imagine not having them when I am out.  I guess when it comes to fishing it was one of the things I took for granted and did not realize how important they were to me.

Personally if it's summer I'm barefoot in the boat....love it.  For me its a well balanced rod/reel.  Less fatigue and more enjoyment.

I'm very interested in this topic as well. Standing up for many hours either on the boat or on stage....wears me out quick. My redwings I wear at work are too bulky/heavy for either .

Lol I fish from a tube so I have to remember to pack some walking shoes. Nothing worse than getting caught out on the water when the wind picks up and having to head to shore with nothing but fins to get you back to the truck!

On the beach I always wear sandals, washed up debris, sharp sea shells, broken bottles, jellyfish.

On the boat I wear boat shoe, sneaker style, I like Teva Helm 2, but they are discountinued.

Bank fishing a comfortble sneaker and socks, we have fire ants here.

If it's warm, I'm either barefoot or wearing Crocs. Laugh if you want, they're comfortable, breathable, and they dry quickly, plus they float.

If it's cold, Muck Rangers.

Yea I'm like bluebasser I'm either barefoot or have crocs on.

I always fish from the bank and boots get heavy after a lot of walking so I wear running shoes.

Asolo makes high quality footwear and has been doing so for almost 40 years.

Flip flops if I'm not concerned about extended sun exposure. Gotta love fresh air.

My lightest and most comfy athletic runners otherwise. I like to be quick on my feet if I'm not hiking with a heavy pack.

To many snakes to wear flip flops while bank fishing here. Plus I just don't like them. Lol

What's that?

The version of fishing for people with lower income. Lol

If I'm on the boat, I always wear shoes. Got some nice mesh Under Armour shoes that keep my feet cool, and if I wanna beach the boat and hop in the water to cool off for a bit, they dry very quickly.

Rubbish!  I know a guy who doesn't even have two nickles to rub together but he built a raft out of discarded wood scraps, styrofoam etc.  He kills it while sitting in his lawn chair atop his raft, no lie!  He made a crude paddle and takes his time...  But he's out there catching big'uns at a cost of $0.  It can be done!   :eyebrows:

I'm not creative nor am I a good carpenter. I've thought about building one, but I know I don't have the skills to do so. Lol

Well hey, it was worth a shot!

I was going to try to make a kayak out of wood, but I was lost just thinking about it.

And I can run the trolling motor better barefoot!
