Okay I'm looking for a good high gear ratio baitcasting reel. I'm not interested in spending a lot on one since I'm a hobbyist angler, so I've set my budget at $100 for a brand new reel. I've been looking at the Abu Pro Max, Lew's Laser MG Speed Spool, and the Wright and McGill Skeet Reese Victory since it's currently on sale at Gander Mountain for $70. Any ideas, opinions, or comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would stay away from the Victory, when I worked in the retail fishing market the Victory and low end Quantum reels were our highest returns.

I would look at the Lews Speed spool. I think the rebate is still in effect, so the reels will be had for $80. That would be the minimum level of Lews reels I would start with. 

You can find better reels that are around 100 dollars. Just look on e bay. Look at the Lew's Tournament MG or the Tatula. I found both for $103

I have been very very pleased with the current generation Daiwa Excelers that I have in 7.3:1. They are all over fleabay for $70ish nib with free shipping. I liked them so much I ditched a few higher priced reels in favor of them. The other day I held a Daiwa Lexa side by side with the Exceler, and unless I want the LH 4.9:1 Lexa, I am going to choose the Exceler every time over it.

The Exceler replaced the venerable and bullet proof Procaster PR100H which was a real best bang for the buck, I too, if I were to spend less than $100 the Exceler would be the number one in the list.

Id go tatula

I'd also vote for a diawa tatula, great reel for frog fishing, feels very powerful when getting those salad covered bass to the boat.

You can find them for 100$ if you look around, talk to Ron at valley sports, he might be able to hook you up with a deal!

The Accurist's by Quantum are right at $100.  I have 2 and haven't had any issues with them.  Both perform exellent. TW has the Diawa T3 Ballistic's for $110 which isn't much more then your budget. You have quite a few options in your price range.  Don't know if I'd go with the Victory though, and the new Exceler would also be a good option.  

Consider the Cabela's Prodigy, made by Diawa, believe it's close to what the Tatula is made by Diawa. Then the Pflueger Supreme

Both come with a high speed model.

 

Own 'em both never with any problems with years of fishing adventures with me. Not the high speed, though.

Due to the techniques you've listed which you'd like to use the reel for, I would say AS LONG AS IT IS COMFORTABLE IN YOUR HAND, go for the Tatula in 7.3:1.  Great casting, solid retrieve and my favorite part of the reel is the drag, smooth and is VERY strong. As long as it is comfortable for you I don't think it can be contested for these techniques in the 100$ price range from the auction sites.

If you want the best bang for buck go on ebay, amazon or search for the OLD model exceler. They have mag force Z and free floating spool or try to find a good condition TD-Pro. The old excelers can be had 40-50 bucks, but are getting harder to find. The new model exceler they dialed the features and quality down since lexa and tatula moved into the same neighbor hood. The new exceler is more of a laguna level now. Plus the old ones palm much nicer and have a better brake adjustment dial. Believe the diff. between magforce and mag force Z is the ability for the brake rotor to move to adjust in and out depending on the speed of the spool(mag force Z). 

What about the Lews LZR? And I felt of a Pflueger Supreme XT the other day and it felt really good in my hand
