Wierdest lure I own is a three segment broken back 8inch pike. Wierdest I have seen would be either the rubber field mice or the abogast buzz plug.

Bill dance , dancing eel . Has to be the stupidest thing I have ever seen . Ironically I have caught fish on it , granted the fish may have taken pity on my lure .

Yea the argoblast buzz plug is definitely odd, I own one, got it wet a few times with no luck. I think it may be more of a novelty to me... 

Heddon Cousin II , I haven´t caught even a cold with it. I´ve even tried to loose it throwing it to the nastiest most lure hanging up cover you can imagine and guess what ? it comes out of like like nothing happened.

You tied your line directly to the swivel and when you cast out and the fish settled on the surface, you would give the bait a nice jerk and the tail would start flapping on the surface for about 10-15sec. It reminded me of an old school toy where you pull the string and the mechanism would activate the toy to do some kind of movement. Never caught a darn thing on that bait ... lol!!

LOL... my mistake deaknh03, but yes, it looked like the bait on the right. Mine was silver/gray. I have to look for that thing, it has to be in one of my old tackle boxes for when i was a kid. They made that bait look so good!! lol....

Heddon Big Bud which I have actually caught bass on.  Another would be the crazy crawler. 

Any brand, color or design buzzbait.  I've scared more fish with those things than I have ever caught with one.

I thought the same till I tossed one out and caught bass.... I now own about 4 of them lol

Back in the early to mid 80's BPS had a huge double spinnerbait. Don't remember the name, but it had a large spinner arm up & a large spinner arm down and a leadhead with a curly tail coming out the middle where the line tie was. It was a ***** to cast, especially in a breeze, but it caught fish until I lost it to a snag. Have not seen another one since. It was like an old precurser to the A-rig some folks throw today! 

Oh man I forgot about the helicopter lures. I own some. Great in concept; stupid in action. Never caught a thing with them.

The fishing hall of fame in Hayward has all kinds of old lures from the past. It's really fascinating. The one that stood out the most to me was an actual stuffed chipmunk with hooks on it... it was pretty crazy!

I had seen a nude mermaid lure and another that looked like Marilyn Monroe that would appear to loose it's clothes when wet.  I also remember a 10 treble hook jerk bait.  One more that stands out....  I had seen a lure a few years ago that looked like a plastic float with a red light in it that made various sounds in the water.  It had two treble hooks and was about the size of a musky bait.  I think it went down to a depth of maybe five feet.  It looked funny and it could croak, snap, and make bubble sounds.  No idea who made it or if it caught fish but it looked fun.

I have a couple of those my father gave to me. Ive caught a couple steelhead on them.
