Ecofriendly Vehicle ...... Sorry, But Not Today !

So I was on the look for a new car for myself, I need a small compact car but with down foldable rear seats that can allow me to carry stuff ( like dog kennels ) in the back when I need to, shure I could get a small pick-up but that´s not what I want, I want a car that if for example, my wife and kids go to visit my MIL I can pick them up and not have to carry the kids on the back like if they were cattle, a small familiy car is what I want, in other words, a hatchback.

There are several hatchbacks in the market from 100,000 pesos up to 150,000 pesos, I´m looking for something in the middle of those 2, something for around 120,000. I don´t want a lot of equipment because that only increases the price of the vehicle and hell, I don´t even turn on the radio. I don´t need the vehicle to take me on long travels because for that I have the SUV.

So there I am looking at cars when I remembered the Nissan Leaf, I´m all in for ecofriendliness, and since I´m not going to drive for hundreds of miles a day I thought an electric car could be a good option, with the miliage I put in a caron a daily basis I can charge the car around once in a week.

I get into the Nissan webpage, look at all the characteristics and I think I have a winner, that is until I go to the page where you find the price of the vehicle .........$545,000 !!!!!!!!!! pesos.

Are they NUTZ ?!?!?

So, screw ecofriendliness, I ain´t gonna pay 4 times more for a vehicle the same size.

Yea...... ya can get another sub compact gasser that easily gets 40+mpg for half that. At least ya thought ecofriendly first. Hey,its the thought that counts...Right?

My buddy has a diesel jetta. He can get any were from 50-55mpg. I have been in the car a few times. It is not the typical diesel. That many Americans are use to. It acts just like a gas car.

Not sure on the price of them new. But you should be able to get one for around 25-30k American.

That's still 15 K more than what I'm willing to pay for subcompact car, hell, if I'm going to spend in a friggin' subcompact of that size I may well get me an Audi A-1 instead.

I agree with the Soul, very comfortable to drive, my wife and I are tall and it fits us perfectly, decent gas mileage and plenty of trunk/backseat room especially with the seats folded down. Read the reviews up on it and 90% are good with most people complaining of the cup holders... We got a 2011 with 30k miles loaded to the gills for just under 11k....

The Cube has been discontinued do to pure ugliness
