A cold front is blowing through the U.S. right now...just hit Texas this morning.  Anyone going out in these conditions?  As I understand it, bass are supposed to be very lethargic when a front passes over.  If you are going, what are you going to throw and where?

Fished a local pond and caught my pet monster on the first cast, a smaller fish a little later.

Both fish were caught on a white Chatterbait with a white Rage Tail Structure Bug trailer.

I doubt there will be another opportunity this week with the storm moving in.

 

 

 

Tight wiggling crankbaits near whatever grass i can find. 

I tried my luck with a texas rigged rage craw. No bites, but lots of yellow perch following it into the shallows by a step drop off. Today was actually warmer than average here in the NE, and saw lots of baitfish in the shallows. No fish, but still good to get a line wet. 

It's going to be 72 tomorrow here in NC so I'm getting one last trip in before the front rolls through. Friday and all weekend when it is in the forties I will be on the couch watching football and staying warm. I've been throwing crankbaits and jigs lately but after the front a dropshot and finesse jig would be on my list...and maybe a lipless crank just in case.

Well today was the nicest day we were going to have for the rest of the year. It was over 60 today and I hooked into a really nice one that I am sure would of been my biggest this year. I have caught plenty in the 4.5-5.5 range but only a couple over 6. I got it a foot from the edge and it turned so I could see the whole thing and it was gone I was going to change the trebles out for EWG and said screw it and I think if I did that it would of stayed on. Then to boot later I lost one of my favorite cranks I a place I had fished over 1000x and made tons of casts across that spot earlier today. I changed spools on that rod with another reel and if it still had the CXX on it I might of had a good chance to get it back. I am going with it being a monster snapping turtle that got me and I swear it was moving at first.

 

I swear this thing is like the 10" version of lipless cranks. It just always seems to get big bites.

I'm going to be throwing 1&1/4oz loads of #2s @1550fps at some lesser canadas 

A black and blue jig has been whats getting it done for me in ky, the front hasn't hit yet not supposed to till tomorow but i think the jig bite will stay strong.

I almost went this morning in the 20 degree temps and 20+ mph winds but then my common sense took over and I went to bed. 

Because it's all about that blade bout that blade lots of trebles.......it's all about that blade bout that blade...... Just start singing this song.

So went today, and it was cold....62 outside, cloudy and the water had cooled to 68. (It's Southern California, 62 is cold....had to put pants and a sweatshirt on)  I know it's cold because they stocked trout there while I was fishing....on the bright side, caught one on the swimbait.  So not nearly as cold as everywhere else, I really feel your pain.  Do not look fwd to going back to Louisiana next week.  Hopefully it warms up, but looks like it's gonna be another cold winter for most.

Yeah, but it's hard to get a 170ft crewboat up some of those cuts....lol, but you left off the flounder bite also.

I went out yesterday from 9 a.m. till about 2. wind chill was from 20-30 degrees. Threw a white and red spinner bait all day. Caught a few 2+ largemouths and bunch of pickeral.

How were you fishing the spinner and what kind of blades?  Slow rolled Colorado?

I was fishing in 4-10 feet of water. Slow rolling. Just trying to keep it above the weeds. Silver large willow leaf and a small Callorado. Water temps were 48-49 degrees. 2-3 foot visability in the water.
