Seagur Red Label Vs Vicious Fluro.

Featured Replies

I'm currently using the 15lb Vicious fluro, and so far I'm pretty pleased with the line I have not tried the elite version of the vicious. The only complaint I have is the memory this line has, I've been curious on the Seagur and was wondering has anyone tried both of these lines and thoughts on either.

I have used both.  I prefer Red Label mostly because the diameter is smaller than Vicious...The 12 lb Vicious is the same diameter as 15 lb RL.

Outside of that, I feel the RL is the better overall line.  Line is a pretty subjective topic though, in this case it's cheap enough to try a spool and see what you think...Not like you're paying for Gamma/Tatsu/etc.. :)

FWIW, I use RL exclusively for my flouro needs for a variety of reasons...So you could call me a Red Label 'homer' :).

Yea that's true not paying for Tatsuya haha I've been trying to go get some of the RL but every time I forget haha. I like the sensitivity of the Vicious line but man the memory is terrible!!

I have tried both and Vicious is one the worst lines I have tried yet.  Red Label on the other hand is not bad.  It has some memory but with a little line conditioner it is no big deal.  Invisix and Trielene 100% FC are the two I like best.

I didn't have a bad experience with vicious. Red label has been fine as well. I know a lot of people don't care for vicious though.

I should mention that I have only used red label as leader material, so I don't really know about its memory.

Go with sunline sniper fc. best fluro around.

I would go with sunline, but honestly I can't afford it.  I'm on a college student income lol so i'm sorta limited on my resources. Otherwise I would of tried sunline a long time ago haha

I've typically heard better reviews on the red label

I use red label exclusively as well. Love the stuff and I switched to it from the invizx

I've tried a ton of fluorocarbon lines, including vicious and red label. Invizx is the only fluorocarbon I will use anymore.

My favorite of the budget fluoros is Sunline Super.  It comes in a blue box and is about $15 for 200 yds.  I liked it way better than Vicious Elite or Red Label.  If you're in the experimental phase, give it a try.

I will definitely give it a shot thanks!

Another for Red Label.  Vicious is vicious.

Used both, had no problems with either.

Hootie

If you're low on income have you tried braid with a fluoro leader? This will save you a lot of money. Braid lasts a long time on a reel and one filler spool of some good fluorocarbon will last you a while too.

I have only used Red Label and it was alright from my experience. Used it without KVD Line and Lure and it had some stiffness to it, but I'd imagine if I sprayed some on that would've gotten rid of the problem.

No I have not tried that setup. I've never really used braid period honestly.

And thank you to everyone for all the inputs, after doing some more reading and looking at reviews I have decided to go with the RL. So in other words I have a spool on it's way of some 15LB RL! I will give an update/review on the line once I get it in, and fish with it a couple times. Again thank you everyone!

Flip a coin. I use Red Label, my tournament partner uses Vicious. We both only use the respective lines for leader material, and in 3 years neither of us has had any issues.

If you go to braid and use FC leaders, the cost will save you money down the road.  You can get a good season of fishing on quality braid and worse case you have to flip it over.  Have FC spools I've used for the last 3 years with line still left on them.  Much cheaper to replace 10-20ft of FC then 100yrds at a time.  Figure a 300yrd spool of 832 will run you say $40.  Will give you 100yrds on 3 reels....so now down to about $13 and some change (for the whole season).  Figure RL is about what $15 a spool (200yrds?). Might get a month out of it if you're lucky.  So $7.50 a month vs $1 and some change (over 12 months).  Do the math and see what you're going to save.  Then if you want to use Sunline Sniper well there's your extra funds.

Buy some bps xps fluorocarbon when its on sale during the spring fishing classic. Best line for the money there
