Bps Pq Or Daiwa Tatula

Featured Replies

which is a better reel? not sure what rod or technique itll go on. obviously the pq is a steal at 49 but the tatula can b found for around 90 which is a great deal as well

Hands down the Tatula, mag z is the best in the business as far as magnetic braking is concerned, Daiwa makes a rock solid reel, parts will be available for a long time if you should ever need them. Tatula...

The PQ is a very good reel and at $49.99 it is a great deal but I think the Daiwa Tatula is night and day over the PQ and I would tell you if you are not on a budget to go with the Daiwa Tatula it is fantastic. MUCH better drag, it is smoother and if it matters to you it will cast a little bit farther too. The Tatula is well worth the $40 extra

I have three PQ's that I have bought  during various BPS sales and all work fine .

That said , at the standard price of $100 I would be inclined to buy a Tatula for the noted extra smoothness they have .

Buy both. Problem solved.

Tatula. The PQ is good for $50. I bought mine for $65 last year and wouldn't buy another one for that price let alone $100.

what was bad about the pq?

I have 4 PQs that have served very well for years. They are great reels for the money. I really like the Tatula though, and that will be my next purchase.

Depends on if you can swing the extra cash.

The PQ is a fine reel, especially for $50.  Caught a ton of fish on mine before I gifted it to a friend and it was still going strong.

One thing to consider about the tatula is it is a wider frame.  Make sure you're ok with that.

yea i handled the tatula at bps today. even tho i have fairly small hAnds it palmed nicely

what was bad about the pq?

Nothing bad about it other than maybe the drag.  There are other reels out there that are better for $99 and also go on sale regularly.  My BPS Nitro Tournament Z which retailed for $99 and that I payed $60 for is smoother and has more ball bearings.  Even my $74 Quantum Acurist PT is a little more free than my PQ.  I don't get all the hype behind the reel.  There was a point in time when it was amazing for $100 but that time has come and gone.and it is good for $50-$60 given the competition.

For $50 the PQ gets the nod.  However, if you were going to get it for full retail price, than no.  The Tatula can be found online for cheaper.

No brainier - Tatula

I had 3 until a few days ago I traded one for a chronarch 51e. I'm hating that decision already. I don't feel there is a $80-120 reel that can top it and it's better than some $200 reels.
