I used to have 2-1/2 story farm house dated back to 18 something. Firewood was the only feasible fuel to not go broke .

It was fantastic heat.

 

Next place had oil, cast iron baseboard,it was nice ,but it wasn`t wood.

 

 

Now, heat pump    .First five yrs I hated it. Two positives. It makes AC in the summer and my bills are very reasonable. High bill so far was about $210. The next one may set a record.

I just roll my grills and smoker in the house.Cook while I heat the house.Of course the windows are opened,to let the smoke out.Lol

The week before last, we heated the house by opening the windows.  By 2;00 pm, it got too warm, so we had to shut them & turn on the AC.

I was going to suggest switching to used tires as a good after dark fuel source.  And then I noticed the name of the local tire store up there, and didn't want to see anyone wrack up warning points asking if the guy's first name was jack!
