Hey guys im in the market for a flipping rod but need some help. I want a rod I can pitch heavy wood cover with but be able to throw a Carolina rig, football jig, and also be able to cast a 3/8oz jig. Basically a rod I can flip a 3/8oz jig with but still pull off and get good cast with the same jig. 3/80z jig will be what I use 75% of the time with this my price range is $200.

7' or so mh/f.

Truthfully, a 7'6" mh/f would be even better.

Brand is your choice- you're not getting junk at the $200 mark. They're all good sticks.

Yea forgot to mention I would like it 7'3'' or better. Im just having a hard time finding one that don't seem to stiff to cast a 3/8 jig. I was thinking maybe a dobyns savy or one of the new Loomis's.

I have a 7'3 mh duckett micro magic that I use for the purpose you stated and I love it. I mainly throw 1/2 oz jigs but it works very good for 3/8 oz too. It has a soft tip that loads up good with the 3/8 but it's also got a lot of backbone to it. And if you look on the auction site you can find them for $119 with free shipping.

I thought about a duckett. I really like the looks of the new loomis rods just afraid I wouldn't be able to cast a 3/8 with it.

Anyone have a 7'6'' veritas or veracity mh? Veritas is normally all I use and I now the 7' mh is more like a heavy wandering if the 7'6'' is the same way?

It's just as bad. Nothing changes.

Look really hard at the Diawa Tatula rods. Any if their MH or Heavy action baitcast rods would be ideal. They can be had online for much better than retail as well.

That's what I was thinking RW, don't think I should need to wait around for other people to get it and review. Im sure it will be great rod because of the name un-like some of the other new rods that come out and people are skeptical of buying.  

Any H rod in your length preference would be fine. Once you add a trailer to your jig it becomes 1/2oz I use my powell endurance 714 for everything you mentioned. A $200 budget gives you a lot of good choices. The Tatula 7'2 would fit for what you're asking.

I have the same 7-3 mh duckett ... Same purpose .. Love it ... I fish it from the jigs to t rigs to topwaters

This is a solid choice, I've talked to a dealer that has handled these, "used them" says they are "Stellar" at the price point!

I did not order this particular rod, but I have one on order that should arrive

Very important. When you're flipping sometimes the fish will just lightly eat it, and you won't realize what has happened if your rod is not very sensitive.

Probably just gonna go with a 7'3" vertias or veracity since there mirw like a heavy. Plus I know these are good rods.

I was at gander mt. and held a st. croix rage 7' 11" heavy moderate and it felt right for what you mentioned and it was on clearance for $100

7'6 feels weird to me couldn't imagine 7'11 in just 5'7 and stubby lol.

Fwiw I flip with a 7'11" veritas. I've only had it less than a year- but I love it. By flip I mean punching mats. ... that's the only time I flip.

The grass I'll flip won't be to thick I'll be casting mostly. Has anyone used a 7'6 mh veritas or veracity ?

i just ordered a 7'3" heavy temple fork outfitters tactical casting rod for 160 bucks to use a lot like you.  I'll let you know how i like it when i get it.
