Many indicate the 7'3" MH casting rod is their all - everything (almost) rod for many applications ... What is your favorite OR best value 7'3" MH casting rod under $250 and please explain why ?

Best value - For me it's a Powell Endurance 723

I have two of them for a reason. If I'm grabbing 1 setup to take this is the one for me. I've thrown everything on it. Balance with either a heavier or lighter reel is incredible.

I have a Dobyns Champ 733 but I'm not going to say it's my favorite yet because I need to try a 734 first. It is a nice rod though.

Great sensitive rod for bottom connect, a TON of hook setting power, great senko rod.  It balances well, I believe the weights are 3/16oz. - 3/4oz. and 10#-17# line.  So, most of the lures are covered with the rod.  Versatily for this rod it can do a little of everything well.

 

But, Powell has eliminated this line and replaced it with the 3D Max series.

^^^ the tip is rated as xf. I think all of the Endurance series are except the obvious ones.

Yes, it has been replaced but the 723 is offered in the 3d max series. Supposed to be a slightly better blank.

I love the Duckett White Ice 7'3" MH but I can agree that the Powell 723 is one fantastic rod. I hate that they quit making those. I sold all of my Powell Rods to buy Duckett's except for a 703 Powell max and a 723 Endo, I just couldn't part with those two rod's. Back to the White Ice, that Rod just has the "It" factor for me in a 7'3, I know a bunch of the guys here do not agree with me but I am loving the Duckett Rod's. It is lighter than the Powell, has a nice soft tip and I can throw many different baits on that one rod. I never leave home with out it.

Its 279.99 but got it on a twh sale, which is often enough. 

 

It can do it ll pretty much based on my experiences with it. I bought it primarily as a jig rod which it does well (sensitive) but I also use if for throwing some swimbaits and frogs and whatever else pops up. Its rated 1/4-1 1/2

 

I too have a Powell 723 which is amazing. It feels weightless with a team lite lews on it. I also got one when TW was blowing them out.

Another vote for this...it's the only rod that I have 3 of ad I wish I would have bought one more when I had the chance.

I say the Duckett as well

I believe my only 7'3" rod is an *** MF.  That would have to make it my favorite 7'3" rod.  Now if you throw 7'2" rods into the equation, I'd have to change that choice....as much as I like the ***.

Great replies - a 7'2" MH casting rod is close enough to my original post , so let's add this rod length & action as well and hear what you like in a 7'2" or 7'3" MH casting rod and what you like using it for !

I can throw just about everything in my box with this rod except for the really light weightless stuff. Really great blank on these.

If I was going out and could only choose one rod this would definitely be it.

^^^  Yeah, I handled a couple of Pinnacle rods at the Richmond Bass Expo late Jan. and I was impressed, lighter then I thought they would be.  I haven't fished with one.  But, definitely seemed to have been built correctly.

Their XF blanks are AMAZING. Crazy backbone, nice springy versatile tip and ultra light titanium recoil guides.

Honestly I have owned several XF Envys and have been super impressed by all of them. I also own an NRX and they are VERY close. The Envys are even a little more versatile IMO as the tips have slightly more give and thus handle weights to the lighter end of their rating EXTREMELY well.

It's my assertion that the 13 *** rods and specifically the XF blanks are the best sub-250 rod out there.

I have a 7'3 *** mh and a croix ltb 7'3 MH and i love em both...great all around sticks.

i tend to favor the *** when im on the water though

Tatula on the lower end of the price, Megabass Orochi on the higher side.

Well it's a bit above the stated price range but right now it's the MB Orochi XX Diablo Spec R. It's a 7'2" MH/F, but a really versatile taper that makes it a great multipurpose stick. I just got it and looking forward to really fishing it this spring.

7'3" 13 *** Black. Its my jig rod and its amazing. Got it on sale for 175 shipped. Best purchase ive made in a while.

Dobyns 734 .. The light weight feel, and balance of this rod makes it an absolute pleasure to fish. The sensitivity is also great for a rod in that price range. It just seems to fish everything so well and make it fun. 90% of fishing can be covered with this rod IMO.
