I'm old school when it comes to a lot of things and a lizard on a C-rig in the spring is one of them.  I know the old 'ball and chain' is loosing it's popularity to other presentations and it seems (from lack of talk) that lizards have lost out completely. So my question is; Who still uses a C-rig during the pre-spawn and if you do, have you abandoned a lizard as your plastic of choice? What about on a Texas rigged lizard for bed fishing? 

It is still my #1 go to bait for the bigger girls..but i have been fishing smaller bodies of water with females that don't get bigger than 4 lb.  I ended up using a Rage Menace more than anything this season

I was into C rigging worms last year so much, but this year I'm going lizards. I bought a bunch of V&M's and Berkley and can't wait.

Carolina rigs and lizards still catch plenty of fish. I bed fish or texas rig a lizard more often, but all three approaches work.

my good buddy is the c rig lizard master.  I was wondering if anyone had experience with the GIla monster lizard, the yamamoto lizard, and the biffle lizard?

Yep, I use a lizard on C-rigs all year.

 

Nope, don't use a lizard on a T-Rig or Shaky Head at all.

I fish my lizards weightless. When my reel is set up well I can cast them a considerable distance and the presentation is very lifelike. The entry into the water, the way they glide through the water.... Great bait for me when I throw soft plastics.

The only time I use something similar to a C-rig is with a split shot. And I haven't had too much luck with lizards. Caught one dink on them and I threw them a lot during the prespawn time.

For some reason I rarely use regular lizards but I know they work just as good or better on a c-rig than other baits...I used to use the c-rig in NY a lot more than I do now, but I always liked a Power Worm or centipede style worm....Now I like the Mojo RIg which is similar and I use a lot of baits, I like to put a walleye slip float inside a tube and a rattle, fill it with scent, and pull that along with long leader letting it float and dart all over plus a tube is really weedless.

 

I seem to do best with creature/craws on the c-rig but lately I am getting into a simple 4-5" Grub, or an elaztach fluke like the Strike King Zero, or the Zman Scented soft baits of all kinds, but in summer, I find a Power Worm or 10" Ribbon Tail is the way to go for me in most places, I just have confidence in the ribbon tail...Berkley, Culprit, Charlie's, V&M Wild Thing, Gulp Turtle back worm 7.5", and Rage Anaconda and the ringed ribbons are really good as well.....

 

But I would say the Zoom lizards are probably the most popular C-Rig bait in spring here in Florida from what I hear and see. I think the Zoom are more buoyant than others but only carry the zoom and BPS lizards & rarely use them only because I carry way too many options than needed. The BPS Floating Magnum 8" Lizards are a good bait at times, very hard and fish will spit them out for some reason,  but I soak them in Megastrike and I do well with the black and gold tail no matter how I throw them and usually I just put a split shot and use them from shore on shorelines. I like floating soft baits but in reality they all float if you pull them along with pauses because they rise naturally....In open water I used to like a hardbait like the XRap or Small KVD 1.5 crank in a river I would fish but for some reason I stopped doing that since I fish the trash more  often than rock and deep water because I am more comfortable in weeds.

Lizards are awesome baits for bedding bass. I truly think that bass hate lizards because the raid so many nests. Most every strike on a lizard is just viscous.

Really like lizards.  Steams, lakes, rivers.  Carolina rig, shake head, Texas rig.  Good bait.

 Next to soft stick baits and plastic worms, lizards are one of my favorite spring time lures.  I can't believe the local Gander Mountain only carries one brand of lizards, Zoom lizards.  The last three or four times I've been there I've looked for lizards besides Zoom and found nothing.  No Yum lizards, no Berkley lizards, no Strike King lizards, no other lizards but a few packs of Zoom.   But they do have tons of flipping creature bait lures which I don't use much and I've never caught a bass on on.  It's really pathetic how they are pushing those creature baits and of course crank baits but hardly any lizards.  I don't have anything against Zoom lizards, I have a lot of them and used them today bank fishing with success.  But I would like to have see some lizards from other companies.  Walmart is just as bad.  

 

 I like to Texas rig my lizards on eight or six pound mono.  

I like lizards a lot and dont have a favorite brand. Zooms are good. Mister Twister , Gene Larew , BPS have all done well for me. The six inch lizard may be the best lure I ever used for 15 to 20 inch bass .

 Just got back into using lizards a few years ago.  I'm into the Power Team Lure 6" gator (black and junebug).  Let me tell you, these are killer for bedding bass.  T-rig with 10lb mono is my setup.
