I'm looking into buying a new aldebaran and was wanting to know where to buy one for the best price. It seems like the best prices come directly from Japan. Does anyone have any experience ordering from stores like Japanlureshop? I'm guessing that the shipping and return policy is going to be kind of tricky from the US.

JLS is awesome, I get stuff within 4 buisness days. I have no idea on the return policy, but that being said paying $274 for a new Aldebaran, why return it? They retail for around $420 you can just take it and resell it and probably make a profit if you don't like it.

Though not the cheapest, Japantackle is one of the most reliable and professional. They also had me shopping at the dollar store this past winter...they tagged me for a SV spool for the Ito, a Lin Black Jungle, an Aldebaran BFS, and a Hedgehog in a short time.

Just saw that the Metanium 13 was the same price as the 2015 Aldebaran. What reel would be better suited for an all around reel? I'm going to be putting this reel on my Champion 734.

The MET13 for a little deeper spool.

Is there much of a difference between the 15 and 13 Metanium?

The 15 has DC, little heavier and has different handles.

JLS is great. I just picked up the last 09 style Alde that they had 2 weeks ago.  That reel showed up in 4 business days. While you're ordering, don't be afraid to pickup some Sunline FC. The prices are much better than here in the US right now with the exchange rate (on both reels and line). 

I ordered a Scorpion 1000XT from JLS,  four days from order to delivery.

It got in the country quick. I ordered it at 10:30pm Thursday (Friday in Japan), it shipped the same day and it got in country on Sunday.

It was in my mailbox when I got home!!

japan lure shop , ordered many times and usually have my order w/ in 4 days , it's crazy how fast stuff gets here through ems and they have great prices to boot

To any owners of the new Aldebaran 50... I need a favor.  Since I don't have the reel just yet, can someone take a measurement of the reel seat length and post it for me? Rod builder needed a specific measurement for it...

I can't remember the measurement. I didn't have the reel when I built it but I used my Chronarch 101SF to cut the seat and it ended up being the same size foot as the Aldebaran.

2015 Aldebarans reel foot is exactly 2.44" tip to tip. Brian.
