I'm looking at buying a quality pair of braid scissors. Seems that the Saltwater Splizzors by Buck Knives are really nice, and have lots of other functions, I'm sure there good quality and would last forever as well... But is it worth 169 bones... I mean, that seems like a lot... Insights?

I use my KVD split ring pliers and I can't, for the life of me, think why I'd need anything different - maybe something more compact on a lanyard around my neck?  But for $10, I'm very happy with them.  What do $170 scissors do that $10 scissors won't?

$169? That takes the cake. IMO, that is insane. My $2.99 scissors work fine.

If you want more time on the water (from a previous post of yours),  not buying those scissors would be a priority.   :-)  

I would love those splizzers but i could never pay that much.  The (non) salt water ones are half the price but still too much for me.

It isn't difficult to cut braid at all. I don't know why you would need a pricey tool for it. I use a pocket knife or a pair of scissors I bought at walmart for  .50 . You wouldn't catch me with a pair of $170 scissors. Here's a pic of the Splizzors.

Even with "all these features," I still think they are grossly overpriced.

 

Boomerang Snips, best braid cutters out there and they're under $20.

Ok....back it all up.  OP didn't say that there was a bottle opener built in.  Sign me up for three!

Love that thing! Best 12 bucks ive ever spent on fishing...well maybe lolol.

I use regular eagle claw split ring pliers for hook changes and a gerber multi for my needle nosed plies

I don't know where you are seeing them for $170, but I bought them from Amazon last fall for $65 (which I thought was alot).  

 

I actually don't like them very much.  They are HUGE - like way to big to ware around your belt all day fishing.  I have a Boomerang snip like Jeff said and wouldn't trade it for another pair of these.  The Splizzors do come in handy and I keep them in my tackle bag, but they only get pulled out occasionally.  So yes do yourself a favor and buy the Boomerangs.

I don't why people need a special tool to cut braid. Do you fish with a pair of needle nose pliers? They actually can do more then just get hooks out. If you got a bunk pair you might have to cut a couple times but so what. You can also hit it with a file to sharpen them but down file it lower or they wont meet together and cut.

 

 

These things rock on and I like these way better then wedge split ring pliers. They cut line get out hooks and change split rings all while fitting in your pocket or whatever.

I use the Berkley braid scissors, $2.99.  I have to buy a new one every year because it gets dull but I'm ok with that.

The sheer on most decent pliers are sharp enough to cut braid.

 

if you really want a separate tool,  go to a Menards/Lowe's/maybe wal mart and pick up a 3.99 pair of westinghouse titanium scissors (the small pair) super sharp and when they dull, toss em and get a new pair.

$169 for scissors!! Go to the supermarket and look for the office supply aisle and get Fiskar's for $2. They work just fine. 

Nail clippers for .99 cents

I saw a pair of those in bass pro. While I'm sure they are excellent tools, I thought they were too big and way too expensive. I think they've missed the market by a wide margin with this product. $30 they'd probably be worth a go, but it's still a bit bulky really for a simple tool.

I had a pair of nail clippers that cut braid like nothing. Not sure where I bought it from, but I dropped it in the drink one day. The next pair of nail clippers don't seem to work half as well, unfortunately.

 

I got a Rapala line clipper from Walmart last month for 2 bucks. This one works great on braid.

Boomerang Snips are the best braid cutters period.

Yea the kid split ring braid cutting pliers are awesom for 8 bucks

$14 Hemo-Cuts work fine for me.
