flippin and pitching, i have a St Croix LTB i bought off fleabay that was originally the 6'8" MH, but someone snapped of the top 7" making it 6'1" and it changed it to a H/XH action and it works really well for accurate short range flips and pitches

Perfect for fishing jigs and the like in close quaters and heavy cover. Big fish in heavy cover with a short leash = short, heavy rod.

What brand rod is it?

Like JFrancho said. It's nice to have a rod for flipping and pitching in tight quarters. Most of those rods now are much longer, and I understand why, but sometimes fishing around or under trees or other obstructions, those big long sticks can be cumbersome.

The handle on my Lew 7' Custom Speed Stick was a bit long for me so I'm having it cut 2.25". I'm picking it up from the tech on Sunday morning. If I find the rod is still a bit long over all I'm going to have him cut the tip back 3-4". 

I fish standing in my canoe so the angles worked against me. If I was in a bass boat the rod would have been fine as it was.

Raul, I have that very rod. I love it and use it a lot. I fish a very snaggy lake. Snaggy,... is that a word?

You ain´t gonna fish something like this with UL gear. This requires some macho gear. Interesting, now that I come and take a good look at this picture it´s very much like where I caught my first 10+ lber.

I had one given to me and yes pitching in close quarters would be its best use or if you needed a short rod for travel.  Without that being a need of mine, it didn't take me long to tire of this rod and I haven't had it with me for a couple of years.

perfect rod for jigs ,t rigs,  pitching or frogging  especially like stated above if you on the shorter side. i just bought a 6'9'' super destroyer and being 5'7'' it has basically replaced my 7'3'' kistler heavy for all of the above, much more enjoyable to fish being that its lighter, easier to work an action bait like frogs and  my accuracy placing baits is pinpoint. i know the trend for a while now has been longer sticks but unless i need to sling something a mile which is prob. 10% of my fishing i always reach for 7' and under rods tight quarters or not.

If you fish from shore, and often have trees and stuff around you, you will appreciate the shorter length, much more lure control and freedom of movement than even you would expect by using a rod 6-12 inches less than your typical setup.

If you were a midget (height challenged or whatever the PC term is nowadays) do you think that you would be comfortable using an 8" rod? You might but I doubt that I would.

I use rods from around 6' up to a 15' centrepin rod, and I'm 5'7". My height never factored into it.

My height doesn't factor into using a 16' cane pole but I doubt that I would would want to walk around pitching with it.

It could make a good spinnerbait rod. I bought a Rick Clunn VPs 6'6" Heavy used for pretty cheap at a tackle shop one time to throw 1 ounce spinnerbaits and the like.
