2500 Shimano Spinning Reel For Legend Tournament?

Featured Replies

Hey all, I just bought a brand new st croix legend tournament 6'8" medium power xtra fast action spinning rod on a whim (hey it was listed for $59.99) and was thinking of getting a 2500 shimano or equivalent daiwa reel for it. What do you guys think overall? Too big or perfect size? Or perhaps a 1000 or 2000 size? I was thinking of getting the jdm equivalent of the saros, the nasci 2500, which has a much slower 5.0 gear ratio, which I can get around $80-90 bucks since everything is cheaper in Japan now. Thanks for any input.

Thanks, I was thinking that a 2500 would be fine, but wanted a second opinion before I pulled the trigger.

You can choose either size and it will be fine. The difference will be negligible. I would opt for the 2500 because they generally have more drag pads.

I have a 6' 10" LTB, one in a medium and one in medium light. I have a 2500 CI4 on one and a Pfluegar Supreme XT on the other, both have been great reels and great combos.

Great, I'll go with the 2500 then. Three confirmations are enough for me. Thanks for the prompt response everyone, I appreciate it.

A 2000 to 3000 size reel is a perfect fit for that rod.
