8 1/2(Ish) On The Slammer

Featured Replies

I caught my first Big slammer fish today, pulled out the scale to get a weight and what do ya know the battery was dead. So I took measurements, this thing was def a football, 21"x 20"! (steel tape so girth could be a little off) Weight calculator says 8.6. Is that thing fairly accurate? Either way it was a good fish.

Shaped like one of those Lake Biwa bass. Nice job!

I have found the calculator to be fairly accurate on typical shaped fish.  I suspect that it is not as accurate on odd shaped fish, but have no proof.   I'm thinking there is a a girth x girth x length/ 800 is 10.5 pounds.  This is another method, but not as often quoted.  You might split the difference.

Giant fish.  Get yourself a scale.

You are the final judge.  Just giving you a comparison.  Your photo is a little hard to see.

Nice fish bankguy. Here is a recent picture of an actual 8lb-8oz bass for comparison. I weighed it but did not measure it.
