Sorry Neighbors

Recommended Posts

I know it's Saturday. It's your day off, but starting at 9:00 am. I am going to start cutting my grass. With a predicted heat index of 104 degrees,I can't wait till mid afternoon. Why today? Got to get it cut between raindrops. Seems like it's always raining here. Every time I have cut my grass this year, it's been wet. So, "WAKE UP EVERYONE."

I get off work at 8am and go straight home and cut my grass and, like you, it's had to be certain days because that was the only chance I'd have in between downpours. I'm surprised our little push mower hasn't died yet as much tall, wet grass as it's had to cut this year.

Gotta do what you gotta do. Is it still wet from last night? We still have standing water in our yard. My gauge is showing just over 4.7 inches of rain from yesterday's pair of storms (which came in about an an hour and a half apart from one another) and they looked to he moving towards Cincinnati.

Push mower here also. It has done some groaning this year.

When I retired I promised myself....

No more getting up before 6:00 am

Only shave when she starts yelling

Throw out all the ties

And find a kid to cut the grass!!

;)

Did the same thing Mike.

Can't sleep past 4:00 am.

At my age, if I don't shave, it looks like I have cornmeal on my face.

Don't even own a tie.

Boredom set in, so I started cutting my own grass.

Oh well, so much for my retirement plans.....lol.

My neighbors were up at 6am cutting their wet grass.  Didn't bother me a bit.  My family and I went to Kings Island yesterday.  After 9pm it pored.  I can only imagine what you woke up to.

At work we start at 7:30....if we get complaints (which rarely ever happens), we tell them, sorry, you wouldn't want to be mowing in the late afternoon either!

Not to hijack the thread, but...What is the most common complaint you guys get?  Ours is "You are cutting my grass too long."  Which is kinda weird, because if you cut too short it cuts out the green and looks way worse.

We get that too.......I'd say the biggest is overcharging complaint and we do have some super picky people. You probably know what I'm talking about....

Can't wait till 8:00 pm? But whatever is best for you right? I guess if they decided to have a lot of loud music playing at 1:00 am it would be okay with you? Whats good for the goose is good for the gander?

Yup, just curious if it happened to everyone.

My personal favorite is the add-on person..."While you're here can you chop down this massive oak tree?"  NO

Or the negotiator "I know we settled on $$$$$, but can you do it for $?"  NO

(Not complaining I love all customers even picky ones.) ;)

But to answer Hootie I think 9 A.M. on saturday is completely reasonable.

I hate to be the "so how 'bout the weather we've been having?" guy, but seriously, what gives? My poor garden is simultaneously growing like mad and getting beaten into the ground. Has this impacted your fishing? The lakes I fish are creek-fed reservoirs and are constantly muddy and flooded beyond recognition.

I used to live in Cincy, and would frequent the Campbell chain of lakes not too far from Harrison. I'm guessing that smaller bodies of water in the back of the property are probably connected to the creek/river by now.

Lol I think a stereotype vid of lawn customers would be hilarious! We hate working for rich people. We pull up to their house, which looks like a beach resort, mow their pristine grass, go past their huge shiny grills that probably cost more than a month's rent on my house, and try not to get grass on their BMWs and Mercedes.....and then they tell us that they can't be on a regular rotation for every other week because they don't have the money, so they'll just call us when they want it cut.

That is such a classic line.  It's really funny when the call exactly every other week.  Going on how we need to come today because their grass has gotten too long, again.

I've since adopted the perfect response for every occasion you should try.  "Yes ma'am."  It works wonders.

My grass is too green...yes ma'am

You guys are too expensive...yes ma'am

You are too slow...yes ma'am

Why didn't you come earlier...yes ma'am

YOU ARE FIRED...yes ma'am

A stereotype vid would be way too funny.

When it all boils down I enjoy it.  Good customers out weigh difficult ones, and their appreciation makes it worth it.

Not when it's suppose to rain through the rest of the day.

Mow in the rain, it'll keep you cool

Lol...Tom, I've done that three times so far this year. I was maybe two thirds finished and it starts raining. Told myself, I'm not stopping now. Gonna "git er'done."

I sure wish my lawn needed to be trimmed this morning.

One of my neighbors, "The Great American Patriot" was lighting off fireworks until 3am so I'm sure he'd like to listen to it at sunrise.  Another leaves his teenage children home alone for the weekend so the rest of us can listen to the thump, thump, thump of Ghetto Rap.

The old fashioned idea of respecting your neighbors started to circle the drain a long time ago.  It wouldn't surprise me that these idiots get upset when they're awakened in the morning by the noise of people going to work, none of them have that habit.

Yes, the lake I fish has flooded a few times this year already. It's also part of the Hamilton County park district, like the Campbell chain.
