The NFL is a joke. Glad he won (not even a Brady fan). Roger Goodell is the biggest idiot in professional sports.

Watched it break on ESPN.

 

Of course there'll be an appeal, and if ruling overturned,

Brady would face 4 game suspension during the season

when games could matter more.

 

Players gave Goodell too much power....

They had 0 evidence Brady did anything wrong and the NFL contradicted their own report in testimony before the judge. The decision was obvious.

As for what was on the phone, Brady says that they turned over "detailed pages" of phone records and all of the emails requested by the Wells investigators. They also went to the phone company to retrieve the relevant messages from his broken phone. The NFL acknowledged that last part in the 20-page statement explaining Goodell's decision, buried in a footnote on page 12.

Me too...unfortunately folks outside of 495 still thinks he's a cheater, which is sad, really.

I don't really care if Brady knew or not, none of us really know if he knew, I'm just interested to see what the NFL does going forward. I have to imagine they're going to appeal it, and they very well may win on appeal.  

If "The NFL"  chooses to appeal and Draaaaag this out even longer, they will have fully achieved WWE status.

I am indifferent. I am not a Pats fan, and think their past indiscretions color the lense through which most of us see this. With that said, the NFL has made a real mess of this.

I recntly heard a discussion of how MLB handled players using gloves bigger than legal a number of years ago. It had gotten out of hand. They informed the glove companies and the players that this would no longer be acceptable and it stopped. If the NFL had used this model we would not be having this discussion. The NFL has completely failed in its handling of this IMO.

At this point, it's not about Brady, it's about the opening of the flood gates to anyone and everyone taking their punishment from the NFL to court. I just heard that Greg Hardy is considering taking his case to court now. I believe the NFL will fight this recent decision because if they don't, they're never going to be able to discipline a player again without it going to court, every time.

 

The CBA was written a certain way, and I would think that the NFL would challenge the ruling on that basis. 

Goodell was the commissioner.  The judge made him the eunuch of the NFL.

Thank god we live in the USA, where you can find fairness in the court system to clear your good name.

Of course you need lots of money to do it.  This is a classic case of the out of touch, so far up in their ivory towers that they are unable to apply a common sense business approach to the simplest of problems.  A CEO in any other industry would be shown the door for this type of thing.  Maybe this is what will happen to Goodell, who knows.   Of course he works for the owners, most of who are far removed from reality, some of who encouraged this nonsense.

I'll vote for both.

There is no way that a high school qb that is even vaguely decent does not know instantly that the ball is too soft.  Heck even a lineman with stone hands could tell the difference in a couple of pounds of pressure.  He knew and cheated anyway.  I don't care about smoking guns or non sense:  He violated the trust of the game as Bill has also done with video taping and other underhanded bs.  Kraft loves to paint himself as a man of integrity but he is a fraud as are their championships 

Why were the teams ever in charge of the footballs anyway? It should have ALWAYS been the job of the officials. MLB umpires are the only ones in charge of game balls. It would be silly to let the teams be in charge of them.

He had the way he liked the balls. The equip managers made them that way. Did either know the actual parameters, or even that there were actual parameters? Is this worse than wearing the wrong cleats?

NFL should provide the balls, and then none of this is remotely an issue. Did anyone check every other quarterback's balls for a control?

Well Volfan, about the other QB balls being checked. The Patriots were not the only team with deflated balls in that game. This is another thing which goes on all the time, other QB's even admitted to it in public they had it done. The same with the prior video taping, they were not the only ones, just the ones called out.

 

The NFL was in a bad spot when it went to federal court where actual evidence and procedure are required. Not the half done job of people who think they run everything.
