Caught this guy next cast. Same dock. Much better fight. But he got same as the bluegill almost. I'm posting from the boat. He went 3lb4oz. Not a bad first 30 minpost-55200-0-51532700-1441371985_thumb.j

The first fish is a pumpkinseed, not a bluegill.  Neat looking fish regardless.

He would be beautiful in an aquarium. Ive been thinking about setting mine back up with a few sunfish in it. a couple of green sunfish and Pumpin seeds would be cool .

Wow I would love to catch that pumpkinseed on my popper fly. Pumpkinseed are beatiful. I would love to get the bass too though! :)

Pretty little fish. We get lots of Longear Sunfish in certain areas around here. A male that is lit up for spawning season is about as pretty as a freshwater fish can get.

they are very similar looking. The biggest giveaway is that bright blue pattern on the mouth area of the face.

I would find a jig close in color(s) or have one made. Good looking fish.

I think the Pumpkinseed sunfish out of a nice, clear lake might be the prettiest fish in fresh water.  And they're fighting' little buggers, too.  If they got to be four or five pounds...   man!

Take pictures of the awesome looking ones, measure each one. Then have a taxidermy do a mount of four or five. I seen these befoe mounted they look great in the den.
