Hey do y'all fish live bait?It seems like there isnt much discussion on this.Is it looked down on or what?To me,if it isn't against the law or unethical I do it if it works.What think ye?

 I fish with both lures and live bait for bass since my experience has taught me that there is a place and time for both of these tactics.Have caught most of my +10 pound bass on lures from the shore,and feel using lures is easier than live bait since it's less of a hassle.I also fish live bait and lures in saltwater. 

Only when taking kids fishing as they have such a short attention frame line.

I think most bass fisherman look down on fishing live bait.

I agree.You all have good points for it.Not sure really why it would be looked down on because it takes more work to get the bait and keep it alive.I lure fish because its easier to throw a trip together on short notice which is often all the time I have.But I live bait fish often because IT WORKS.My son and me do fresh and salt.In saltwater we almost exclusively do live(or dead ) bait.We have a great bait hole that's in the area we fish.We eat a lot of fish,esp.saltwater,and I eat a lot of bream and catfish out of the lake.I make every effort to save injured bass .Although my dad could never understand catch and release.He grew up hard in the southern Appalachians and his idea of catch and release was catch it and release it into your ice box.

It's too much hassle for me to do regularly, but I'm not afraid to admit that I do use livebait for bass from time to time. Not going to lie, if I catch a new PB on livebait, I'm going to be just a tiny bit disappointed, but I'll get over it.

         Believe it or not,9 of my top ten were caught on artificials.MY PB was caught on a manns jelly worm.I do catch a much bigger AVERAGE with live bait though.

   I agree with you 100%!Catching live bait and keeping it alive for the entire duration of the fishing trip is harder than what most people think.Buying live bait complicates things even more since live bait is more expensive than purchasing lures in the long run.With the same money you can easily buy enough lures that can last you weeks,if not longer.

    It's much easier to fish with lures compared to live bait.For example, it is much easier to walk along the shore with a bookbag filled with lures and a rod in one hand than to carry a heavy bucket filled with bait and a rod in the other hand.Lures can generally be reused multiple times,while each live bait might only be lively enough to use only one time.

I use it when I take the kids fishing, and I am slowly getting them to use artificial baits.
