Bladed Jigs

Featured Replies

So I got access to a new pond recently and have been waiting to fish it. Temperature was around 65-70 throughout the afternoon, so I decided to stop by. The pond was much larger than I expected, but very well maintained. Water was stained and the wind was blowing pretty hard. The wind almost caused me to just come back another day. I recently picked up some bladed jigs and custom spinnerbaits from @Siebert Outdoors and wanted to try them out. I started out fan casting with the spinnerbait around the pond, but didn't get any reaction strikes. Decided to try out the bladed jig in summer craw with a lime purple passion pit boss rigged sideways for the trailer; I think I remember @Bluebasser86 mentioning to try the pit boss that way. This was my first time trying bladed jigs and I pretty much learned what I know about them from reading the forums. Long story short, I only got five bites the entire day. However, I now have a lot of confidence in bladed jigs. Left the new Accu-Cull scale at the truck and was on the opposite side of the pond when I caught these.

Nice fish! That's how I suggest fishing them, it's even the color I had in the picture of it rigged up! A very underutilized color I feel.

Exactly how I had it rigged. Picked up a couple different colors of pit boss that I normally don't use during the Christmas sales. Lime purple passion was one color I picked up based on your advice. I never really thought of using them that way. Mostly used them as a flipping lure. I will definitely be trying them more as a trailer now.

5 bites is all you need as long as they are the right bites! How were you fishing it?

Nice fish and that jig looks good.

It is always nice to learn a new lure and catch some fish in the process.   :)

Nice outing.  Congrats.

They were all caught slow rolling it along the bottom, just enough so it was vibrating and bumping along.

Serious chunks XzyluM, looks like the five "right" bites.  You definitely have it down and looking at the picture Bluebasser86 posted, that's an awesome looking jig.
