Dual council removal

Featured Replies

Anyone ever remove a council from a dual to make a single council boat? Curious how much work it would be? Found a good deal on a dual but really want the space of a single.

On my Javelin, the left console is molded into the top cap.  It would take a sawzall and a lot of fiberglass work to remove it, however, I've never had a reason or the desire.  I bought the boat because it was a dual console, and that's what I was looking for.

I thought about it with my first boat.....seriously.

but it I think it would be ALOT of work.

Desiring a single console.....That's what drove me to purchase a single console boat.

maybe if I was a fiberglass guru it would've been different....but I ain't no guru.....not even a novice.

That depends on the boat.  Some of them are just screwed on.

Exactly.  Some boats are specifically designed to easily remove the passenger console while some boats' passenger console is molded in.  One of the reasons I bought a dual console boat was because I only need to remove 6 bolts to get the passenger console out.

I went 180° in the other direction - wanted a dual console after three single console boats...my passengers were getting cold and wet...

On my '05 Crestliner installing (or removing) the 2nd console is 4 bolts, 10 minutes work.

If it's molded in good luck!

Hack it up and make it how you want it-if it's not to financially detrimental to do so.

Why don't you cut it off and get it to me. I have a single console Ranger, which is fine 90% of the time as I drive the boat, but when I take my Dad fishing he always drives. I guess it is only fair seeing he bought me the boat for a graduation present a few years ago.
