Caught my first bass of the year today! About 2 and a half pounds. Caught on a Strike King KVD Jerkbait. Put up a good fight for right after ice out. Beautiful coloration as well. IMAG00522.thumb.jpg.c035fd0dcf3bbd169ef6IMAG00525.thumb.jpg.d061c53a45de9ae3a16a

heck ya

looks like a great spot to fish too

Nice first outing of the year.  I got skunked today on my first trip to the strip pits this year, so glad to see some fish in IN are biting.

Yeah, its a park lake, bur not too many people fish it. Nice size for bank fishing. Its a man made reservoir off of a feeder creek to the White River, and it fishes just like a big one on a smaller scale. It's definitely a bass factory.

This guy hit towards the end of the trip. Glad I could get rid of the skunk for 2016 haha! Also, check out the Indy thread here!

Pretty fish. How were you fishing the jerk? Are you standing on the NW bank?

Thanks! And actually, that is the South East Bank. It is near a quick drop right off the bank, which I figured is always a good bet.

Oh, also, I was fishing a simple twitch-twitch, pause. I would alternate between 1 and 3 twitches. Pausing for up to 15 seconds. Probably not near slow enough.

Ice just came off the St. Joe River in Fort Wayne today. Took the kayak out and fished some jigs, spinnerbait and a rapala x rap............. Nothin. Lol

saw a few surface shallow on a steep bank but no luck for me.
