Soft plastics gettin' destroyed

Featured Replies

I love T rigging softies like senkos and sinking minnows with a slip sinker, and I have a lot of luck. But it seems like every five fish or so, the body is so mangled that I have to use another. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Could I glue the plastic back together or does that destroy the action? Alot of times, my rig works well and the body slides right up the line leaving the fish hooked below. But sometimes, seemingly at random, the lure is just ripped off the hook never to be seen again. Maybe thats normal, I just don't know.

That is perfectly normal. It can not be helped.

You can fuse the tears back together with a heated bent-out paper clip. With a little practice you can re-fuse and re-use baits several times. (I just heat mine on the stove top)

That sounds about right to me. In fact 5 on one senko is pretty good from my experience. I've had a senko torn to shreds by one good bite from a dink.

Be it a Senko or any other soft plastic bait, 5 fish is probably more than I get on them . Maybe 2-3 fish. The head of the worm is usually too tore up from the pressure of fighting the fish. If you are doing 5, you're doing good! ;)

5 fish are a bit to much especially for the original senkos. I would say max 3. I always carry with me a lighter and a knife which i use to fix my stick baits.

I have a remedy, when your Senko gets tore up just put on a new one and be thankful your getting bit. I for one am not going to spend my fishing day patching up Senkos and saving 50 cents. ;)

So which do you want fish in the live well or worms in your tackle box? You can't have both  ;)

Well, that's a common complaint among Senko fishermen, they catch too many fish so their lures don't last all day. I like justfishin's remedy, but I have found a partial solution, too.  Try a couple of bags of 6" Senkos. You won't catch as many bass and the bait lasts longer. Imagine that!

Something else might happen with the larger bait. On average, I think you will catch bigger bass.

You guyz saying 4-5 fish per bait really need a lesson, come down here where I fish, if you can get 2 fish per bait you are in heaven, 50% of the time I hang up on the first or second cast and ..... and there it goes, another hook, sinker & bait even before a fish has a chance to bite it.  ::)

But if you ain 't feechin where you can loose baits you ain 't feechin where they are.  ;)

Now you know why 5 hook packs are definately out of my list of purchases.  ;D

Sometimes I don't even get one fish on a senko...I love watching my senko fly off my hook and sail an extra thirty feet away.
