I fish Lake fork, but want to try the ned rig. I currently have 30lb daiwa samurai braid on which is a small dia. But what lb leader can I get away with before affecting the action of the bait. If I can do 8lb with no problems that's what I will use.

I just tied an 8lb leader on for my ned rig. It's the smallest I have. Will it affect the bait?

You should be fine. Just adjust your drag and don't set the hook too hard

I never go heavier than 6 with the ned..when I used braid to flouro I used 6lb.invisx for the leader..these days I use straight Capps and Coleman 6lb.

I've caught many fish using a 10lb floro leader with the Ned rig. It'll work!

8# is fine. Fished it on several outfits this weekend and caught plenty on it. 

I use 10lb a majority of the time. 

Like bluebasser86, I mostly use cheapo ten pound floro with good success so you should easily be able to get away with eight pound. I wouldn't even consider going under eight pound test, six pound would break to easily around the stuff I fish in, skipping docks, dragging over sharp rip rap, etc.  I used to use eight pound, but got tired of braking off so easily around rip rap, so I changed to ten pound.  I haven't found that there is any noticeable difference in the number of bites since switching to ten pound at all.  I should probably break down and get line designed for leaders or tatsu to get better abrasion resistance, but I am a bit of a cheapskate and just use a spool of spiderwire floro I picked up for three bucks from FFO a while ago.

^^This^^ in clear water with few obstructions , OR try with #6 lb. to #8 lb. P-Line C-XX copoly line if water is less than crystal clear and you may encounter obstructions . Otherwise #8 lb. to #10 lb. FC leader + #10 lb. #15 lb braid mainline - join the two lines with an Alberto knot .

I use 6 lb tatsu on my setup. Works great. 

8# is what Ned uses the majority of the time, so you'll be fine. It's probably what I would consider the baseline. I will often go lighter, but rarely heavier.

I use an 8lb flouro leader on 15lb power pro super slick for ned rig.

I had success with that same rig paleus.First time using the Ned.I use 8lb Yozuri hybrid for the leader.

I have been experimenting with something similar, but using 6lb Hybrid.   I have not had a fish break off yet, but I have lost a ton of lures trying to free them from snags, which is odd because my normal set up is 10lb braid/8lb floro, which should be weaker then the 6lb Hybrid. 

Do you use a loop knot or a "normal' one to attach the lure?

I have tried to use a short 15lb floro leader to try and get the ned to sink faster, but I cannot reliably get tiny loop knots to hold in it.
