Top 5 Plugs

Featured Replies

If you could only have 5 plugs (squarebills, crankbaits, poppers, spooks, jerkbaits, and others.  No plastics, spinnerbaits, or jigs, please) to fish year-around what would they be?  What lure and color?

KVD squarebills (sexy shad, red craw)

StrikeKing XD series cranks (chartreus sexy shad, Tennessee shad, Splatterback)

Bomber Fat Free Shad (pearl)

Heddon super spook (any color)

Strike King Red Eye Shad (natural shad, blue/chrome)

I know this is hypothetical but I would hate only fishing these for a year lol

No plastics...ouch. Do I even use 5 different "plugs"? lets see:

1. Propbait: heddon tiny torpedo, black shiner (chrome, black back)

2. Popper/walker: Megabass pop max, any color (this is the one I'll splurge on)

3. Squarebill: KVD 1.5 in bluegill

4. Jerkbait/minnow: Rapala original floater, F11, perch

5. Lipless: Strike king red eye shad, bluegill

That about covers the applications I'd need. Hardest decision is to leave a wiggle wart off the list.

This has been my go-to topwater lately, except in chart. with green back.

Plugs refer to old school wooden lures, no plastic limits your choices to a few low production lures.

Wooden BD Tail Wag, Lunker Punker and Shell cracker, all 3 no longer in production.

22nd Century Triple Trout.

MS Slammer.

Poe Super Cider 300

Rapala original balsa minnow.

You're correct, but I was really referring to most hardbaits (with the exception of spinnerbaits, frogs, swimbaits, etc.) when I used the term.  When I said plastics, I meant things like senkos, tubes, and 'rubber' lures.  Sorry for the confusion.
